I've been hoarding lots of artifacts and minerals since I started playing, and I always keep one copy of something before donating it to the museum because they might have a use for me later on (crafting items and quest essentials). However, I don't know which of these items are the ones that I should actually keep that might prove useful later. I just don't want to be inconvenienced throwing something away and needing it afterwards. Please help which items should I keep so I won't have a hard time trying to get another copy once I needed them. Which artifacts and minerals should I dispose after donating one to the museum? And aside from the ones I already have, is there anything else I should be aware that I should keep once I acquire a copy? Thank you ^

Just be rational like me, you hoard it forever
hmm… off the top of my head the dwarf gadget is used in recipes, and if you want to put lava eels in a fish pond you might need basalt as a requested item.
Apart from that i’m not sure. The gems are usually easy enough to find when you need them, but I find myself holding onto two or three each since they come up a lot in daily requests.
The entire bottom two rows can be sold, they aren’t used for anything. The middle row can all be sold except for the topaz, and most of the relics can go (keep the computer, though, since there is 1 DIY that requires it)
dino egg ALWAYS keep
Rubys and jade you can use for trading in the desert for food and stairs
Aquamarine and marble are used for marble braziers completely aesthetic but pretty
Diamonds are a loved gift by like 7 NPCs and used to make fairy dust, and geode crushers, and the ring of yoba, and for trading in the desert for triple shot espressos
Keep the fossils for the bone mill from Gunther
Yep this is what my chests look like.
I’m a dragon.
If you’re anything like me, I just make more chests so I can hoard all of them…
Most of the actually useful minerals are the non-geode exclusive drops though: diamonds, amethyst, aquamarine, and frozen tear for gifts, earth crystal and ruby for crafting, jade to trade for staircases
As for the geode drops, Sebastian loves obsidian and there’s one marble crafting recipe, but most are just for decorating your own house after you donate them to the museum
I think the only ones used in crafting are earth crystal, aquamarine, marble, and the dwarf gadget. You can double check with the wiki to see uses of each artifact and mineral. Personally, I only keep diamonds for easy loved gifting and espresso trades, rubies for spicy eel, and jade for staircases. Absolutely everything else is chucked into the sell box or sold directly to Clint straight out of the geodes
I honestly just keep one of everything in case something comes up and put the rest in the bin. I have a couple crystallariums that I use for the most valuable minerals so I can sell them and that’s about it.
The wiki makes note of anything the minerals are used for. Most of them will also be used in tailoring, but that isn’t mentioned on the page for minerals. If that’s something you care about, definitely try out the various items in the sewing machine! But otherwise you don’t need to worry about it
https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Minerals
The artifacts page doesn’t do the same, but most of the uses aren’t going to be a huge hassle if you don’t have them on hand
– lava eels can ask for a dwarf scroll III. They can ask for something else instead so it’s not a guarantee, but it can be a pain if they ask and you don’t have it
– dinosaur eggs can be hatched or turned into mayo
– any bone or fossil artifacts can be processed in the bone mill. Some of them are worth pretty good money once you’ve read the treasure appraisal guide though
– the dwarf gadget is used to make the farm computer. You can make multiple and they’ll work for the map they’re on, telling you things like how many foragables there are and whether any machines on that map are finished processing
– the dwarf gadget is also a loved gift for Maru
– Jas loves the ancient doll and both strange dolls
– Penny and the dwarf like all artifacts
– Abigail likes the ancient sword and bone flute
– Alex likes dinosaur eggs
Hm, literally all of them except the ones you give up for the museum.
Will you need them again? Almost certainly not. But, number go up 🤯
the ancient doll, at least one dwarf gadget, the gem stones + earth crystal, the lemon stone (for the dwarf), and marble
Nothing, except diamond/Ruby/jade for the desert trader. And maybe diamond/amethyst as gifts
If you go for perfection 1 marble and 1 dwarven Computer for crafting.
If you want to make lava eel ponds, basalt.
I like fish ponds & keep everything in case I need it for fish quests. But I only keep a couple at that point.
I keep 5 pf each. The rest I sell. And read the treasure appraisal book
Marble, dwarf gadget, and strange doll are the only ones that have use outside of donating.
This doesn’t include the basic gems like ruby, amethyst, etc.
Donate and sell
Jade for staircases, dwarf gadget for computer, I think there’s a quest where Emily wants an amethyst, a topaz, an emerald, and an aquamarine and a ruby? Earth crystals for mayo makers
How do people even run out of storage space? It’s not like you can’t have multiple color coded storage bins. Just keep some of everything if you want.
Personally, I’d recommend taking everything and putting it in the sewing machine Emily gives you upon completion of her quest to get some new and interesting clothes.
Dwarven gadgets are useful in recipes, so are earth crystals!!! The ancient doll can be given to Jas as a loved gift. I’d recommend keeping any bones until you have completed the skeleton quest on ginger island!!
Id keep the diamonds as they are a loved gift by many and are easy money. I’d also keep a lot of gemstones (topaz, emerald, rubies, aquamarines) as they are loved gifts by Emily and Clint, frozen tears are loved gifts by Sebastian and emeralds are Pennie’s favorite.
Just keep it all
Most important items to keep:
– Doll (reminds me of Terraria …)
– Amethyst/Aquamarine/Topaz/Diamond/Tear/Ruby/Jade => Gifting, Diamonds in particular are a loved gift for many villagers (Marnie, Jody, Dwarf, Willy, …).
– Rubies/Jade for trading spicy eel/staircases at the desert trader. Invest in 4-6 crystallariums for ruby production in particular. I do not see coffee or spicy eel in your hotbar, trust me, once you taste the speed you do not want to go back.
– Marble for decor, Dwarf Computer for crafting
The rest is mostly useless, but still e.g. can be used for crafting outfits (off the top of my head, ornamental fan = wedding dress).
But honestly, just keep everything and make another big chest specifically for the crystals. : D
Keep the spoons. One game I kept finding some like crazy and selling them as I got them. Then the fuckin raccoon wants 3 for his wife. It took me a bit to find some again.
You need marble to craft something if you’re trying to 100% the game!
most of them are useless, keep the colored gems (aquamarine, jade, emerald, ruby, topaz), diamonds, 1 dwarf gadget and 1 marble (for completion you’ll need to craft one of each item)
If you like to actually interact with the mechanics of the game instead of buying everything also save every bone and fossil to make fertilizer, otherwise nothing else is useful
Get rid of your wood and make more chests. Keep 5 of everything. Hoarding is the way.
