This is the farthest I’ve gotten and I feel like I was really lucky here 😅. I’m running iridium pickaxe, lava katana, slime charmer ring, and vampire ring if that helps.
Follow up question: are there any levels guaranteed to be a treasure room? A girl is tryna get an autopetter (or two)

Lucky days (check the news program), tons of staircases (skip any big room that takes too long), bombs (jump into any hole you find) and lucky food.
I got to 100 yesterday but I did the unhonourable thing and used a bunch of stairs. After getting to 97 and passing out at 2am without using any stairs, I was fed up hahah. I think a crap ton of bombs, lots of spicy eel or lucky lunches.
Lucky day. Lucky ring. Luck blessing if you can get the statue. Extra ladders or bomb immunity blessing if you can get the statue. Pumpkin soup, espreso, spicy eel. Lots of bombs. Lots and lots of bombs. So many bombs.
Go early, use a totem (trade omni geodes to desert trader). Get your gear ready the night before and pop the totem to get there 1st thing in the morning.
Bombs, make some money, hit up the dwarf and buy a stack of at least 100.
Go on lucky days and scarf food for extra luck (pumpkin soup, lucky lunch, fried or spicy eel- magic rock candy is huge bonus to everything).
Drop a bomb in the biggest cluster and race for the staircase (or shaft) as soon as you see one. Staircases to skip infested levels or sparse ones without many rocks. Speed helps too so drink some coffee or espresso (lasts longer). Dont waste time fighting, its bombs-away and run to the stairs and shafts
Also eating other food with buffs cancels the lucky food buffs so refill health with elixers or fruits n veggies (cheese is good) and that way you keep your lucky status up.
Without ladders I got to lvl 151 with max luck day, lucky rings (2), magic rock candy and 80 mega bombs. The treasure rooms are RNG and the higher luck means higher chance for the treasure rooms. As a beginner ignore the enemies and use bombs take the shafts bring plenty of cheese, spicy eel, and coffee (they all drop the same amount of levels don’t stress choosing the right hole.) This might help,
Put jades in a crystallarium and then you can trade those for stairs by the desert traders on Sundays,
Grab 100+ stairs
Also you can purchase bombs by the dwarf (if you donated the 4 dwarf scrolls) and purchase like 50+ bombs
Then grab your most healing food and a mining of luck buff food like magic rock candy
Skip the levels which are taking you too long and if you have a large clump of rocks explode them with bombs
Also remember to do this on a good luck day (helps you find more ladders)
1. lucky day
2. extra luck boost (spicy eel e.g.)
3. use bombs more than pickaxe
4. staircase skip infested areas and the spiral shaped floors
5. at some point you get a desert warm totem recipe worth an extra +4 hours in the morning
6. you just fall asleep in the mine. use a farm warp totem if you want to make it to bed and only spend 20 min on the runback

Make Crystalariums and make quartz or jade to sell to the vendor in Calico. I think they only sell stairs on Sundays for Jade’s
Bombs and jump though open holes. Do that with stairs and you can get 150
I just did it after work today. I got to level 40 then used my 60 staircases 😅
galaxy hammer, spicy eel + coffee/triple shot, Bombs. Lots of bombs, staircases (mainly for infested floors), good luck, good rings, and practice.
For my rings, I usually use napalm + iridium ring and burglar + iridium ring.
it seems silly but practice genuinely helps. when i was first starting out i was always dying and never getting very far, but i’m chilling now 🙂

4. Bombs to find ladders/holes
5. Make stairs
Bombs. Lots of bombs. And lucky days. Oh also try eating/ drinking foods that give u speed that helps a lot too.

can’t find a ladder or hole after three shots/two bombs, use a stair case.

Qi only gets snippy if you use 10 or more staircases, and even then you get his prize either way
I’m seeing lots of good advice here so I’ll just add this: spend until 2am and pass out there. If you’re leaving around midnight to get home you’re wasting valuable time. You won’t lose any items passing out at 2am, just a little money.
If you don’t have a desert warp totem you should absolutely set up a tent the night before. don’t need to rush to the desert if you’re already there
As the others are saying, bombs, luck and staircases . Explosive ammo is very nice. Try to ignore monsters and just run past them, they have so much health that it takes forever to stop and fight them. If you look up skull cavern guide on YouTube there’s plenty of good ones
Here is the easiest way.
1. Put jade in your Crystalarium.
2. When you have a bunch, go to the desert on Sunday.
3. Trade Jade for staircases.
4. Get 99+ staircases (between stone and jade trade in)
5. Go to desert on any day and spam your way to 100.
Keep this in mind. You’ll use it again. The loot gets better the deeper you go. On a good luck day, you’ll even walk out of those mines with an auto petter.
Lots and lots of bombs
bombs. bombs bombs bombs. each time i go for a hardcore, 6AM-2AM skull cavern run, i go with literally 200+ mega bombs (and 150ish regular bombs in case i somehow run out of mega ones). i also like 12 triple shot espresso, 8 spicy eel, 16-20 mayo, 2-3 life elixir, and as many staircases as i have on hand (usually between 5-10). my absolute best skull cavern runs have been on days when the Statue of Mining gives the “bombs cannot damage you” buff, and the Statue of Blessings gives the speed boost (or luck +1). until i get to level 150 or so, i just drop a shit ton of bombs and get as low as i can as fast as possible.
edit: and i just saw your note about rings! i love the luck ring, but the burglar’s ring and any ring that improves magnetism is a BIG help for getting some loot even when you’re just bombing and running.
I go on high luck days with the master slingshot with 999 explosive ammo and as many stairs as possible (I set up a jade farm to trade with the desert trader, in the end when I have 999 stairs I don’t bother moving from the ladder, I only descend). Bring luck rings (including special charm), food and drink if able as well as food to heal and a strong weapon. Finally make a desert Totem to start immediately.
Prioritise moving down. Always use the sling first to explode clusters of rock. Ignore everything else even iridium ore nodes, the nodes increase as you go deeper so taking a half hour to grab 1 node means missing a dozen+ at the end of the day. Always jump down holes when the opportunity presents itself, keep your health topped up even if it seems wasteful to heal. Skip infested floors with stairs immediately, they are a waste of time.
After you get to a sufficient depth (I don’t keep a number in mind, just when I start seeing several iridium nodes per level) or I get to 6-8pm, then I start collecting iridium, but even then I only grab the ones close to the ladder that I can explode easily and move on quickly. I have done entire runs without the pickaxe.
Results will vary but I can walk away with 500ish iridium ore with the sling method, after I have my stair collection I have walked away with 1,500+. Prismatic shards will always be far more variable with me receiving between 2-10 on any run.
PS – if you are going to Lv 100 for Mr Qi you need the secret note about the floor for him to spawn. As for the treasure rooms, I believe only multiples of 100 are guaranteed treasures rooms, all others are luck dependent.

method:
prep your inventory the night before
go on a day with the highest luck you can (the TV will tell you).
use spicy eel and espresso as soon as possible
use desert warp totem before 7 am
rush to the mines and start your descent
if you haven’t hit your target, use the farm warp totem to get home by 1 am and avoid passing out.
Important notes:
do NOT greed yourself. Even if you see some cool stuff, unless its super rare, do not pick it up. It will slow you down.
Use bombs in high cluster areas of rocks and search for mine shafts, ideally. Always survey the area to make sure there aren’t any exits already exposed.
If you end up on a floor that would take a long time to search (like the spiral layout), use a staircase to get away from it fast.
Make sure you always have enough espresso and spicy eel to sustain yourself and keep life elixirs in your hot bar to make sure you can access them in a pinch.
Don’t fuss about being in the blast radius of your bombs, just monitor your health and heal yourself accordingly.

This is the method I’ve used every time I needed to reach floor 100 and after a few tries, it usually works! I know the list looks excessive/extensive but thats just because i always use a lot of planning to attack the desert mines. I think you get the crafting recipe for mega bombs by level 8 combat? Not sure. Either way, good luck!
