Do flowers do the same function as buttons?

I recently made this building in the Nether for the portals that connect the Nether and the Overworld
I placed the buttons to prevent mods from appearing, but in the green block (moss) I would like to place wildflowers and some other flowers, so Do flowers serve the same function as buttons? Or should I look for another alternative?

use Brown Mushrooms, they have a light level of exactly 1
The only flower that blocks spawns is the wither rose. All other flowers allow spawns still.
Carpet and slabs will prevent spawns

Just use moss carpet and slabs. You could use something like mangrove slabs to put over the netherrack
