i somehow managed to plant 495 strawberry seeds on spr 16 (y1), but i fear that i might not be able to do anything other than watering

You dont haha. You gotta pick and choose, and get sprinklers. So I’d focus mine until you have enough ore to make more sprinklers if farming is your goal.

  2. Since you already planted them, you should really focus on the berries, but you need sprinklers

    Yeah, you don’t…

Classic early game mistake to plant way more than you are able to reliably water. Pretty sure we’ve all done it at least once

  4. What level of the mines did you reach? If you already got down we’ll below 80, crafting sprinklers should be super fast (just repeat floors 41 and 81 for ore, 45/55/65 for coal and maybe 85/95/105/115 for quartz (not sure if quarts spawns on these though…).

If you can water all your plants and still have a few hours left: no problem. Should be enough to make 5 sprinklers or so and you’ll have less watering on the next day. Which will allow you to go to the mines again and maybe craft 7 sprinklers. Shouldn’t take too long to get everything covered, as you’ll have less watering and make more sprinklers every day.

If you can barely water all your plants: either do that and wait for a rainy day to mine and craft 20+ sprinklers or see below:

If you can’t water all crops in one day anyway, water your crops maybe until 5pm. The ones you can water stay your priority, these will give you two harvests. The rest will only give you one harvest, so you can ignore them until the 22nd. After 5pm or so go to the mines for sprinklers. But even with only one harvest, if you dry them you’ll about double your investment, so that’s fine

  5. Greed… you don’t mine, you water every day, sell when you can, then buy the materials instead

  6. hey so since everyone else is already telling you that this a classic rookie mistake of planting more than you can water, i’m gonna go ahead and ask how in the world did u get the money for 495 strawberry seeds by spring 13 y1. i find this very amusing bc the mistake of planting them all implies you’re a newer player but the fact that you were even able to acquire that many in the first year implies this ain’t your first run.

Time isn’t the only issue here. Stamina is such a struggle in the early game too.

You focus on berries till you have the money to buy ore from Clint and then make sprinklers then move to mines

Quality Sprinklers. Lots of Quality Sprinklers.

When all else fails, scale back your farm until it matches the number of sprinklers you have, plus one or two plots you can comfortably water on your own.

Genuinely trying to give you advice here:
Focus on watering them yourself. Use what little time of the day you have left to forage, fish and whatever else you can do to earn money. Buy ores from Cl*nt and try and get refined quartz by smelting whatever quartz you already have and recycling trash (broken CDs and broken glasses only though). You can get the recycling machine crafting recipe through fishing level 4 if you haven’t reached that yet.

Buy ore from Cl*nt, get quartz from fishing trash, make sprinklers that way. This is a “I bit off more than I could chew” moment and my advice is to get to your goal through a different path than you initially thought of.

    You cant without decent sprinklers.

You’ve bitten off more than you can chew.

    Its called winter..

Seriously, I had the same issue early game. So winter was spent in the mine or on any rainy days.

  13. And be prepared for rainy days when you don’t have the burden of having to water all of these.

  14. Unless you are using animation canceling don’t do this, take 80 strawberries that is enough for lvl 6 at the end of the spring and after that plant just as many as you have sprinkles, watering them yourself is waist of time.

  15. oh, i’d say struggle through it and do the watering for spring but next seasons focus on sprinklers and less crops to not get insane. i rushed for the quality ones and it was absolutely worth it.

So you modded in money but not sprinklers? There’s a reason you can’t buy more than like 20 strawberries in spring year 1. You don’t have the energy. Hope you’ve got some food lying around to keep your stamina up while you water all day.

Common mistake to bite off more than you can farm.

The rest of your spring is gonna suck IMO. You basically wont be doing the mines. You need food for energy to complete watering your crops. If you dont have a stockpiled source, you’ll wanna fish at the start of your day and then run back to the farm, eat your fish, water, eat, water, eat, water, sleep. Repeat for the next dozen or so days and never do that again. “Lessons learned in blood…”

Edit: i also highly recommend you clear some of that nearby debris or the “spreading weeds” are likely to destroy some crops. The left side is making me nervous

If you still dont have the upgraded watering can, start getting the materials for the upgrade then watch the tv to see if theres any rainy days incoming, if one is, water everything then go upgrade, crops get watered and you get upgraded can next day, should save you more time having the upgrade

  19. You don’t have time to do everything. For me personally, I have a watering mod. Makes me less stressed and I get to have more fun in return. I just find it annoying to water them all the time

  20. Here’s the neat part, you don’t.

Keep an eye on the weather forecast on the chance that you get a rainy day so you can skip watering your crops and go straight to the mines.

  21. To be the most efficient, I guess you would have to spend all day every day watering them, but would you have fun doing so?

On lucky days, I would skip watering and do the mines instead. On unlucky rainy days, I would do other stuff (foraging, quests etc) for variety.

I didn’t make the basic or medium sprinklers, just the medium ones. I planted enough to water during the moring, and during the afternoon went mining. When the next summer came, I had some coffee beans (I don’t remember where I got them) and started to plant. I planted a lot of coffee plants, and the beans they produce were used to plant more coffee plants. I got a lot of money doing it during the summer… it was very busy, I were farming until the night, but it was worth it.

Better go buy some chickens and strategically name them. Considering your early progress I’m assuming you are already familiar with how this works.

  24. You don’t. I assume you did a lot of fishing as a means to afford all those strawberries in the first place, so I’d suggest watering. Then on rainy days, use targeted bait for catfish and buy the ores you need from Clint

  25. Try and make basic sprinklers if you can for now, will water 4 of 8 tiles on each patch so cut your watering by half so you can mine for materials for quality sprinklers

  26. use iridium sprinkler, u can buy it from the sewer on friday (If u already unlock it)
