It certainly had its fit in it’s time. It is great for beta and alpha based gameplay; but in modern terms it sucks for modern day playing.

I want flatter areas and more wider beaches

I’ve never (that I know of) seen that terrain before!
Now I want it 😍

Old terrain should be a seperate biome system

I really like its big beaches and how it would always spawn you on sand. It made it feel more adventurous.
I wish there was a mod that could do the beta generation but also mix in some modern generation.

The biome variety was way, way worse back then
“Savannas” were just plains with dull colored grass, and “rainforests” were just regular oak forests with bright grass and some ferns
So, no

I miss amplified terrain

I miss flatter areas and less holes, caves and ravines. Currently everywhere is hilly and with all those constant caves, ravines and holes everywhere the whole world is like gigantic swiss cheese :c

I will say I miss how crazy some of the mountain generation was, some of them were completely hollow or would have huge arches.

Minecraft defiantly felt a bit more creative and mythical. The giant mountains with exposed caves, waterfalls, all seen here, it felt more mystic.
With closely mirrored bioms of irl biosphere, that luster isnt exactly there anymore.
The beta terrain is what led me into a medieval creative build style, felt like the stuff put if a fantasy novel.
Now I am always building in Sprice Forests, and they all feel the same.
Maybe I just got less creative as I got older.

Current terrain generation is the worst it’s ever been in modern minecraft imo

Both have their ups and downs
Modern gen can sometimes feel cluttered, overwhelming and sometimes even oppressing. Beta and early release can feel simple and small and unwelcoming for exploration but also very inviting to build in but i think the thing i like least in modern gen is cave generation. On the flip side the thing i like least in older world gen is how rivers dont seem to connect and biomes seem to blend chaoticly
I would welcome something that would meet the middle or have more advanced world gen options. For a more detailed experience

I miss the huge oceans with islands the most. Combined with large biomes it really made you have to travel to find stuff, like you were in a real world.

It would be cool to have an option for this style in the world creator menu, but I surmise it’s not that easy to do
