  1. There was also the pickaxe that you could catch by fishing in the ocean that was able to mine hellstone (I think) and they reduced it's mining power to 59% so it couldn't do that anymore

  2. 1.2 on release overall threw the entire balance into the trash can and ReLogic had to rebuild it again.

    Like how originally, the Biome Keys didn't have a post-Plantera requirement to be used, allowing you to get biome chest weapons in early Hardmode. It was "fixed" with the introduction of the Biome Key Molds, and then properly patched in 1.3 to the way it works today.

    You could do an entire video about how busted 1.2's progression was on release lol

Speaking of pickaxes and drills, there is an interesting detail from the past to note: on old mobile editions (pre-1.3), there was a rare chance to find the Drax in shadow chests, meaning that a hardmode item was accessible in pre-hardmode (but this wasn't the only case of this back in the day, looking at the Sharanga and phasesabers specifically), which allowed you to skip an insane amount of progression from the get-go

  4. Now i know where i have that idea from that you can mine tier 3 hardmode ores from tier 1 picks. to this day i still always think just get tier 1 and mine tier 3 sand get surprised i can't mine tier 3

  5. Surprised you didn’t mention 1.2s most egregious progression break, putting the Drax in shadow chests, making what is intended to be a pre-Plantera pickaxe pre-hardmode

  6. Reaver shark is officially the middle child?? A video about pickaxe power stuff and yet nobody mentions the pre-hardmode pick that was able to break hstone before any bosses had been defeated…?

  7. i just wish we had both, and no im not talking about fishing, secret seeds that add both or any mod addons
    just let us have BOTH ore variations everywhere
