I’m in year 4 and I’m so overwhelmed by the idea of decorating both outside and inside.

For the outside – I can only move one building in a day when I visit Robin, is that a glitch or is that normal?

I have the furniture catalog from Robin, another one from Pierre, the Junimo and wizard catalog for the inside and I don’t even know where to start? I’ve seen inspo on farms of Stardew valley and on Pinterest and all of it just overwhelms me. How are you all planning this?

  1. Winter Year 1 I’ll have the general layout set up

Winter Year 2 I’ll be finalizing the details

I just write a list of things I wanna do on my farm to make it look good, bc I stress bc my farms have no format at all and look so ugly but then I’m like.. this is literally my gameplay I can take as much time as I want

  3. I usually only start decorating interiors when I own the catalogues, and the actual farm when I have everything automated the way I like. My suggestion is to start in small areas and work your way out – it’s less daunting! I never go in with a plan though, just vibes. I try to not compare mine to some of the really nice ones I see on here lol. Also you should be able to move multiple buildings! I do it all the time 🤔

I start with pathing usually year one to get a layout then just fill in as I go

  5. Flower Dance year 1, when I have some money to burn and I can start buying seasonal plants. In general I am constantly decorating as I develop the farm with stuff I get from festivals, the traveling merchant etc.

I also plant a lot of trees just for the look.

This is my most recent farm, Spring Year 2:

The well, mills, and most of the trees are entirely decorative. The area with the weathered floor and table will be surrounded by sunflowers come Summer/Fall, which is also purely for decoration.

I totally get that. I put off decorating too, because I never have a theme or inspiration in mind.

  7. I don’t 😀

Just not my playstyle, I just place everything in a convenient way…including a few hundred kegs out in the open

Dec..or…ate? What is this strange activity of which you speak?

I kid, I kid. I like to focus on tool upgrades in year 1, redo my farm layout in Winter to incorporate sprinklers, and start decorating once I have more gold, better tools, and the spa to top off my energy. I’m also working more on letting my farm grow naturally instead of min-maxing everything. So placing buildings and paths around the logs and rocks I can’t break, instead of planning a regimented layout.

Year 3 and beyond. At that point in time I’m not really rushing to get resources and I have a steady source of passive income.

Gar nicht 🤣 meine ist sehr hässlich, aber funktionell. Bringt die Deko irgendetwas?

I get frustrated decorating because time seems to move too quickly. I wish there was a “pause to rearrange” setting. I’m so indecisive it can take me several in game days just to try different wallpaper and flooring combos

I decided to focus on decorating my farm on my current playthrough. It’s year 4, im a golden clock away from perfection, and I still haven’t gotten my sheds decorated lol. Im kinda happy about it though because once I reach perfection, I never really know what to do in the game, so now I’ll still be able to work on my decoration perfection.

  13. I don’t. Because I’m a monster. I’m a ruthlessly minimalist constructor who also overcompensates for materials over what I actually plan to make.

  14. That’s the neat thing ….. i don’t! 😀 i am more of a practical person. if i need this area for trees or kegs or whatever, i blob em in with no decorations. i know that’s boring , but …. *shrug*

  15. Year 1 winter I start to move my buildings around.

Slowly through year 2 I add lamps and paths. With stable income I might buy decorations and place them in temporary locations or a chest.

Year 2 winter I’ll reorganize the buildings more into permanent spots.

Year 3: I’ve never really played much beyond. At this point the game only has super high costs and I don’t like to min max profits so the obelisks and stuff feel like too much to shop for. But ideally this is where I’d probably waste days doing whatever I want.

i can move any number of buildings when i visit robin. not sure why you wouldn’t be able to? if you’ve completed the dark talisman quest you can also move buildings at the wizard’s tower, maybe try that out?

as far as your other question, i just do whatever i feel comfortable with. when it gets too overwhelming i quit. i’m just into year 4 on my current farm, working toward perfection, and am working on a farm layout but its not even close to finished yet. it’s alright, i have more fun doing other stuff and i decorate when i have game time to spare 🙂
