I usually grab fossils and make them into scarab bombs. That's greatly speeds up the process, especially when you play big worlds and trying to find it in pre-hm/mech. And it's a lot cheaper in that's case.
Though, if you playing smaller world and didn't go for fossils, probably it's faster to do, using standart bombs.
Thx for the video aswell, 120 blocks away tip very useful, usually destroying like half of everything under ocean, trying to find shimmer.
