The image above is the optimal, if not the near optimal beehouse layout for a quality sprinkler flower setup. This is merely an example as I have built a tool that finds the most optimal beehouse layout within a set amount of time given any types of layout which works great if you want to place beehouses in an area where no one has made similar designs on that area.
It also works on your existing farm, just create a map for the tool to work with and it will give you the best layout it can find based on the constraints you've placed.
The main motivation is for the left side of the ginger island farm as 1.6 has removed some spots that can be tilled, and garden pots can be used at any eligible tiles and I could not find any layouts that could work with mine, so why not build a tool? And it worked! The tool has managed to cram 535 beehouses into the left side of the ginger island farm based on my constraints.
As the map data you feed into the tool is fully custom and made by hand, it should work on any types of areas you want to place the beehouses at, as well as existing farms where certain corners or tiles cannot be used.
The full writeup is available here if you want to get into the deets, and the source code is available here.
Happy farming!

Here’s the near optimal layout for the left side of the ginger island farm. If you are interested in knowing more about the technical details you can head over to the blog post I’ve written on my website where the link is available on the main post.
I prefer the corridor style. You just fill your inventory and collect.

Is 8 flowers in the middle optimal? Why not just 1?
This is lovely, but the floor clashing with the beehouses makes it quite hard to read, just a note for future consideration
