
Hi! I’m a 3D/pixel artist and I’ve been working on a concept for improving Minecraft fishing.
Instead of the vanilla system, I’m designing something more active:
fish can struggle and escape if you pull at the wrong time
tension-based system instead of waiting
visual fishing line between rod and fish
I’ve already started working on visuals and UI .
I’d really like to turn this into a mod, but I’m new to modding and not sure where to start.
Would you recommend Fabric or NeoForge for something like this?
Any good tutorials or tips?
Also, I’d love to hear your ideas how would you improve fishing in Minecraft?

Will you try and add new fish?
I really like that idea! You could add like u/Jebo141 said more fishes. Also some cool animations and vfx would probably make it feel better! I think that tension mechanism would fit much better then the current state of just waiting. Also, i would really like the fish to be place specific. For example the ocean has like tuna while the seas and rivers have for example like bass or something!
