random stuff that I find early game, sure, but crafting, pretty much never, I like to see my character skin more, a piece of gold for the nether, usually the helmet, and I equip leather boots if available

The real question is Who uses leather? I typically use copper now just because it’s pretty good and I need iron for other things

I always skip leather but now when my son and I start a new world together we do use copper before iron. It’s easier to get enough copper for two people to have full armor than iron.
