You have to replace them or upgrade them, wood rots fastest, than there’s stone, than iron and lastly hardwood, which I believe lasts for around 500 days.

  2. fences deteriorate over time and different fences have different rates at which they decay. assuming you put all of these fences up around the same time, it makes sense that you’re waking up to new decayed fences every morning. wood fences are the least durable. if you want a longer-lasting fence that still has that wood-look, hardwood fences last much longer. but they will also eventually decay.

the only thing that stops fence decay besides downloading mods is the golden clock which you can purchase from the wizard’s tower, but that’s an extremely late-game item that costs 10 million gold.

you can use craftable items such as beehive or preserves Jar. But it may hurt aesthetics hahaa

Fences are mostly asthetic except for keeping pig truffles easy to find, they won’t eat your crops.

  5. You can use other things as fences. Lightning rods, for example, work to keep animals in and don’t decay. You need a ton of those anyway.

I went for stone fences in my current game, and they’re definitely lasting longer than the wood ones did for me – either way I’m in spring year 2 so I don’t fancy using hardwood or iron for fences

  7. “Is there anyway I can avoid it”: Yes, but it requires completing the Community Center/Joja Warehouse, completing a quest that unlocks after that, and then spending a cool 10 million G. So uh… a long term goal, let’s say.

“Do I need to upgrade them”: This is the easiest method for the short term. Each tier of fence lasts about twice as long as the previous tier:

    * Wood fences last 48-52 days, a bit under 2 seasons
    * Stone fences last 106-109 days, a bit under a year
    * Iron fences last 223-226 days, a bit under 2 years
    * Hardwood fences last 502-505 days, about 4 and a half years

Personally, I like to use stone fences. Stone’s not too much harder to come by than wood, and it lasts long enough where it’s not too inconvenient to maintain – I like to do the refurbishment in winter since there’s less to do in that season.

You’ll need to replace them. Wood fences last a little under half a year, stone fences last a little under a whole year, iron fences last about two years, gates about three and a season, and hardwood fences a little under four and a half.

I’m fond of using tea bushes instead of fences, apart from a gate and a hardwood fence to anchor it to.

Getting married helps. Spouses will occasionally repair the fences as part of their daily chores. That doesn’t stop the decay but it helps extend the life of your fences.

It’s just your fence degrading over time for realism I suppose. You dont need to axe it down, just craft new fences of the same type and plot them down on the broken ones.

  11. Marnie sells ornamental hay bales which look cute but they’re a bit pricey. I’ve combined them with pot plants, rods, a solar panel and totem poles. You only need one post for a gate.

  12. Natural decay:
LIfe hack: you can fix theM by dropping a new piece on top – no need to remove the existing first

  13. Everyone making wonderful vanilla suggestions!

I prefer mods (on pc) to make things more cozy with this stuff

  14. Replace them with tea saplings or lightning rods and it won’t happen! You’ll just have to place two fence pieces to hold the gate.

Upgrade it. The fences have durability that goes down over time, so they break. Swap with a stone or metal fence

It happens naturally. Stone fences, hardwood fences, and iron fences breakdown more slowly. I always found stone fences to be the best balance of “lasts a while” and “easy resources to get”

  17. They decay over time. The higher quality the fence, the less decay but eventually all need to be replaced

  18. They decay over time if you want to avoid it get the golden clock or don’t use fencing and use either tea saplings, lighting rods, anything that isn’t a fence but can stop animals from walking over it and just use 2 fence posts to put a gate up

There is a mod called “No Fence Decay”, I use it and it makes this less annoying

You would have to get a better fence. Like metal or I think hardwood. But what’s happening is ur fences are deteriorating

I make the shit out of preserves jars and use them as fences 😇 a lot of people use lighting rods too

Fences decay overtime. You’ll have to fix them until you get enough money to buy the golden clock.

Another tip I can give you, is to use Tea sapplings or lightning rods as a fences, because those don’t decay and animais don’t pass throught them.

  23. You have 4 options:
    1. Get a Husband/Wife, they’ll occasionally fix the fence.
    2. Be rich and get the golden clock thing
    3. Just bite the bullet and craft new fences
    4. Or bite a nuke and replace your fence with things like Lighting Rods since they have the same properties but can’t decay

I never build them, animals always come back and you can pet them at night when they are all inside
