I farmed blood moons for the vampire frog staff for a week. Finally I decided I do not need it, next blood moon I was already fishing and the first bite was the correct monster and it instantly dropped the staff.
Same with the houndius shootius from the snow biome boss. Farmed the boss multiple times but only after I built a small arena and summoned it once more, instant drop…
This shi is seed based, that’s quite unlucky but i hope you won’t have to farm 1000+ chaos bullshiters for your first rod of discord
Thats why you dont target farm. You say out loud OH WHAT WOULDN’T I DO FOR A MAGMA STONE RIGHT NOW and you instantly get the scythe with a mythical prefix
Did you not know terraria can sense your brainwaves? Yeah buddy, you’re never getting what you want when you want it, and only get it when you don’t want it.
i had the exact same problem but it was with the other two lmao. One run took like 800 kills & many hours to get a magma stone & another took forever to get an obsidian rose
And here’s me flogging nemerous Demon Scythe’s because I’m looking for the other two
Terraria tests out your patience when farming for those specific items u need when you ran out and just got the item from another world u instantly get alot of the item u previously needed that now you dont
This is why I have a “grind limit”
If I’ve been grinding for over a total 24 hours and don’t get the drop I go to an items server

y axis is chance in percentage and x axis is amount of that hell bats you have to kill
red curve is to get at least 1 magma stone, green curve is to not get a single magma stone
as you can see, you have to kill about 103 hell bats to even have 50% chance to even get a single magma stone, after 250 kills it is about 81%
