So pokemon has shinies, pretty much the only reason most people play is for the thrill to maybe get that lucky shiny. Why not in minecraft? Maybe like a 1 in 256 chance for a mob to he shiny? 1 in 512? Seems like an easy pallet swap and implementation. I would absolutely go out of my way to catch a shiny baby sea turtle and feed it a golden dandelion. Name tagged and vaulted. This seems like a reasonable request to add to our newly received baby mobs in the tiny update. Think about it mojang, almost nothing to lose.

1 in 512? What is this childs play? Full 1 in 4096 odds would be perfect

I think we just need the feature to implement custom mob variants via datapacks towards all the mobs in the game, and set the parameters of where they can possibly spawn without external modifications like Optifine.

This way, we can further customize mobs in ways that wasn’t possible before.

Let’s say, I want to make a custom villager texture set for a custom biome within a custom dimension. Stuff like that would be neat.

I don’t think every mob should have one, but definitely anything with a form with various odds
