I can not get my animals to walk around the pond. I enclosed my entire pond in the pen and for some reason they only stay to the east side of it when in theory I want them to walk all over their enclosure. I also have never seen my duck swim in this pond. What am I doing wrong?

You’re not necessarily doing anything wrong. A lot of the animal behavior comes down to RNG.

Just leave them be and I’m sure eventually you’ll see them over there.

  2. Duck must be happy to swim. Pet them.

Beyond that, pull your buildings back a few squares. They probably can’t path to the grass as they have to walk all around the water to get there.

When animals come out they first go for the closest patch of grass to eat, when finished they mill around the area and explore. If all the food is to the east, they will go east and then end up staying there. Also the pond blocks them from going west. They only have one tile of width to go between the pond and fence, that will reduce your chances of them finding that path because they’ve already found an easier path (east). Pull your barns/coops back at least 3 tiles and pull your fence out from the pond another 1-2 tiles and they should be better at moving around it. Also I’m like 50% sure ducks won’t swim until you pet them? Maybe.

The ducks can only enter certain ponds in specific places. Are you sure you’ve set it up in the right place?
