Genuinely fought this guy for two minutes. Almost had him too. Would've gotten him had my Trap Bobber not broken literally the FISH BEFORE. That was with no bobber and Deluxe Bait. I did surprisingly well, but still lost him in the end.
I first found out about him year 1 while using the bamboo pole still, lost immediately. Decided to come give it another try now that its year 2 and I have way better fishing stuff, and this happened. I went and got another Trap Bobber and successfully caught my first one shortly after this clip, but WOW this was painful.
This is my first playthrough of the game, so it also could just be a skill issue, but it doesn't feel like it. Especially considering I've already caught two Legendary Fish. (The Crimsonfish and Mutant Carp)

I know, they think they’re legendary fish. So embarrassing.
It if keeps moving to the place you don’t expect it to be, start moving your cursor to where you think it doesn’t need to go. Change *something*.
That gave me heart palpitations.
This is unfortunately how they are. They are sassy fishes that’s only not Legendary because they lacked the bloodline, but their difficulty is as legendary as any of them.
I would even go so far to say that they’re on the same level, if not slightly harder than EXACTLY the 2 easier Legendaries you’ve caught.
There’s some normal fishes in the game that’s like that. Scorpion Carps are one of them.
I need you to understand just how badly I wanted that to work out at the end.

This stressed me out. I thought at least 10 times you were gonna get it.
It takes too long to do those fishing challenges. I hit the mines, the scholar, and the vendors then zap home.
They have a very erratic behaviour, like octopi
One of the hardest to catch. Octopus are hard too. Puffer fish, super cucumber, lingcod, and pike can also suck sometimes. Everything becomes significantly easier with higher fishing level, iridium rod and buffs of course.
The question shouldn’t be why are they so hard to catch, but rather *why are they worth so little after being this hard to catch*?
Honestly just upgrade your rod and use trap bobber

Fishing needs a timer system where the longer the mini game goes on, the more tired the fish gets. I would’ve had to turn the game off if this happened to me
Been a long time since I played so this might be a feature already. I forget.
Try keeping your green bobber as in the middle as possible. If the fish is on the top, keep the very top of your bobber on him so that you still are catching it when it zips down, and vice versa
Also fuck that fish you had it by a pixel at least twice lol
Any food that buffs the fishing skill will help, as it makes the fishing bar bigger. I think Willy sells Trout Soup (+1 fishing buff)

i love the fishing mini game but at the same time it can be so aggravating. like do you really need to be doing all of that (you meaning the fish …)
