When Electroblob's Wizardry Redux came out for 1.20.1 I quickly got to work porting over an old wizard themed modpack I had been working on back in 1.19 to be able to play the new version and to finally finish the modpack.

Scholars and Librarians is a wizard themed modpack with custom progression and inter-mod compatibility, expanding on the progression of the mods.

The quest guides may seem daunting but they are just visually arranged check boxes showing you how items relate to others. There are no walls of text!

Scholars can write new spells. Their progression goes:

Hex casting: a very abstract form of spell writing but with very little limitations

  • You can now get edified sap from the edified trees, there are custom quests that will guide you on how to get that far with hex casting
  • This sap can be formed into Latent Amber with infusion crafting on an enchantment table.
  • This can then be imbued with source to make a source gem which unlocks Ars Nouveau

Ars Nouveau: is easier to control than hex casting but has limitations

  • One you have progressed enough in Ars to defeat the Wilden Chimaera
  • And progressed enough in Hex Casting to get quenched allay
  • You can craft a Psi rod that unlocks Psi

Psi: Has very little limitations and is easier than Hex Casting (but still requires skill)

Librarians go around collecting spell books and enchantments.

  • Electroblob's Wizardry Redux is the main spell casting system for Librarians, where you travel the world collecting spell books to add to your wands
  • There is ApotheosisMatrix Enchanting and Infusion enchanting to add layers and progression to the enchanting system

I also made some changes to the base game to make being a wizard the most viable option

  • Sortilege has added staffs for each tool material so are your main combat tools.
  • Swords are no longer craftable and are weaker if obtained, Farmer's Delight Knifes are your sword replacements
  • Axes are a bit weaker for combat
  • Electroblob's Wizardry Redux structures spawn more frequently to make it easier to find more spell books and artifacts
  • Because your equipment means so much more to you as a wizard, when you die you no longer loose your hot bar or equipment, they just take durability damage instead. Your inventory gets stored at your death location

Hex casting my beloved. Also since part of the thing is collecting spells what made you go for ars noveu instead of iron’s spellbooks?

  2. This PSI texture is so cool that bought me, I’m gonna play the pack just because of that

Ooooo this Modpack sounds really cool! I’ll definitely going to check it out

Is there universal mana system between all the mods or do they each still use their own mana system?
