I was so excited when I got my first ostrich egg. I got it weeks before I got the incubator recipe. So i kept it in one of my chests. Then when I got my incubator, I had a barn built. But I cannot find now my ostrich egg. I looked on every chest in my farm, around town, and in ginger island. It’s not on the shipped items list. It’s also not on the gift log. Maybe I accidentally put it in the trash or in a mayonnaise maker. Im just so sad because I was really looking forward to have an ostrich on my farm 😢

Did you cook any food recently? An Ostrich Egg counts as an egg for any recipe

Was the first ostrich egg the dig spot one, or did you find it in a chest? If it was from a chest, then… good news, there’s an easy free one you can still get, lol.
I’ve had things like this happen…. and then it dawns on me that I may have found the item on a day that I ended up ultimately re-setting the because of something I’d forgotten to do or lost or did poorly (this happens a lot as my character has severe ADHD… because I do).
Could that have happened??
Go buy an animal from Marnie. In the name field type this: [289] make sure to include the brackets. Then either sell or rename the animal and go hatch your ostrich egg.
You can get a new egg in the chests inside the vulcan, btw 😃
The only other way to get an ostrich egg legitimately is as a rare drop in rare-drop cheats in the Volcano dungeon. Unfortunately they’re the same through each day and do not randomize even if you leave and come back so this may take quite a while for you to find again even with max luck and a lucky ring or two

There’s a tool at [https://www.maxchernoff.ca/tools/Stardew-Valley-Item-Finder/](https://www.maxchernoff.ca/tools/Stardew-Valley-Item-Finder/) that lets you upload your save and then search for specific items, and where said items can be found (like “blue chest on farm”, etc).
I put mine in the mayonnaise machine before realizing how rare an ostrich egg is lol haven’t found a second one yet.
if the ostrich egg isn’t in the list of shipped items, as long as you’ve found 100 golden walnuts you can get another egg completing the raccoon quests
the raccoons have a chance of giving you your next unshipped item as a reward
I accidentally cooked mine into an omelette and got a second one from a volcano rare chest!

theres some bug which makes item disappear from the chests. i had posted about it sometime back.
