im currently on a mooshroom biome so monsters don't spawn on it or it's caves as far as i know
then i found a mineshaft within the biome cords but monsters spawn in the mineshaft just like any other mineshaft how is that possible?
there's a creeper in 2nd pic it was too dark and i didn't have torches

Hmm… the mineshaft might be considered separate from the biome.
Pull up F3, also possible you are on the edge of the biome.
Put some water down, find where the color changes. The shaft likely passes the bounds of the shrooms and you’re getting mobs from a chunk or two away.
Cave biomes are 3D since caves and cliffs. I would’ve guessed standard cave would be separate from the surface biomes but apparently no? What biome does the mineshaft show?
