In a leak for the 1.20 update, we see these flowering vines which supposedly would've been dug up by the Sniffer, evidenced by the Pitcher plant next to it. However, for some reason unknown, this vine plant never made it into the game. I'm not even a builder guy, but these vines look so cool and would give a slight bit more use to the Sniffer (an entire three plants instead of two, how gamechanging). MOJANG, ADD THIS VINE, AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!

I love the sniffer dearly, but I will never get over the absolute absurdity of Mojang’s decision to add *literally two plants* that don’t do anything besides look pretty. I genuinely cannot come up with any reasons that they limited it to two. There was so much potential, and they totally bungled it.
I know it’s not exactly fair to compare mods to the actual game development, but even with my limited experience in making mods, I know that I could fully model + texture and code several plants in just a few hours. There’s really nothing that could have stood in the way of them adding more plants, because they’re one of the easiest things to make–it’s not nearly the same workload as, for example, making a whole new mob or a new biome.
Edit for clarity: I am *okay* with the flowers just being there to look pretty and craft dyes with. I’m more frustrated by the fact that there’s only two plants, not really frustrated with the lack of functionality.
Those vines looked incredible, I really really hoped they add these in a future update
All they gotta do is add a bunch of random unique vibrant plants like these to make the sniffer good. Simular to the nether plants
*Finally, diamonds! Wait, sonuva-*
Still bonkers that they went to the trouble of adding a whole new mob that can only be gotten by hatching an egg found in ruins in order to get two purely decorative plants
They need to ass so many more fun plants to the sniffers. Maybe even a special sapling.
i don’t understand why they restrict the sniffer eggs to only generate in warm oceans. the intention is that “this ancient creature lived in a tropical environment” but climates change over time, antarctica was covered rainforests in the cretaceous period. just make them generate anywhere, maybe variate the rarity depending on biome, then it would make more sense to lock exclusive features behind the sniffer.
They didn’t want to add the vines because then the things the sniffer produces would have an Actual use.
