Bingus Fact!
Many, if not all species of boney fish possess pharyngeal jaws, this second set of dental work is necessary for the continued processing and manipulation of their food! The jaws that we usually see are more used for prey capture as the 2nd set do all the dirty work! Parrotfish in particular have a modified version of these jaws called a pharyngeal mill, as these fellas tend to eat chunks of stony coral and rock while foraging for algae :V
