Depends. The seeds are somewhat rare, but all the insects of the first 30 levels have a decent drop rate. When I go for the monster slayer goal I usually get one in spring, which is nice since the insect head is s good weapon.
Drorate and s 0.5% for every one insect. Meaning 200 insects will give you one on average, but digging and fishing also have a decent chance
Edit: just did the math slaying 139 insects will give you a more than 50% chance to get it from those

If you dont know, you should plant it right away, it’ll die at the start of winter but you’ll get a few fruit out of it that you can turn to seeds and get a good amount going year 2
