I feel like the old leaves could be updated to be a little better but the old leaves are better
As a pixel artist, new
I never even noticed the leaf difference haha. Honestly nostalgia aside the new leaf texture is, in my opinion, objectively better, it actually looks like foliage. Don’t think many people would big fans of the first leaf texture if the newer texture was the original and vice versa.

Old textures had such a more “simple sandbox” feel, which atleast for me is what minecraft is at its core. They’re sharper, they may be objectively worse looking and less polished than the new textures, but I think that’s what gave them their charm even outside of nostalgia.
Hot Take but the older Iron, Gold and Diamond in alpha looks better

The new ones are neater and nicer but I’ll always be a sucker for the classic
