Have this much money, a copper watering can, the first backpack upgrade, the fiberglass fishing rod and enough energy to probably last me till summer time and then some. Also figured out in a previous run that the fishing minigame at the stardew valley fair is a way better way to get star tokens. I did it maybe 5 times and along with winning the display got enough tokens to buy everything and didnt have to risk losing them betting on the green and orange thing. If you can get good at fishing (it can be hard at first) then you can make tons of money early on and its easy to get better at it by fishing at the mountain lake since the hardest fish youll have to catch is a largemouth bass

And at least the largemouth bass sell well. On the scale of hard to catch fish, the largemouth bass is quite easy, I think.
imo its because they added iridium quality – more money, more exp

I like to fish in front of Willy’s a lot early game because I can just sell to him when my inventory gets full.
Early game? Its busted since early game to late game. It never falls off since the introduction of 1.6 Update Fish smoker. In fact, its the highest active income method. Mining iridium ores can beat fishing only if you have tons of stairs to dive deep to farm at least 999 iridium ores. However, you can go fish everyday, even on an unlucky day.
BTW for the fair If u go all in on green u almost always win I have never lost
i fish to get as many strawberry seeds as possible, it’s hell to water but the amount of money you’ll get before spring is over is worth it
Rush to fishing level 7, eat dish of the sea to boost to level 10,catch the legend, buy a pond and sell the roe. Ideally have a preserve jar and then go nuts with the huuuge passive income early game.
Legend roe sells for ~2,5k and aged roe for ~5k every couple days. It’s an insane early game money strat
