I would assume that inputs are directional since its a furnace and that the product would need to come through the top of the block

Mate, it’s been a hot hot minute since I’ve played with Buildcraft but I used to love it. I think iron pipes cannot directly insert into an inventory. They’re made for merging lines.

Pretty sure you need to add the thing you want to process by the machine through the top of the machine. The bottom is reserved for output.
