the underworld can secretly be corrupted, making underworld enemies drop souls
you forgot to mention that in hardmode you can find the Tortured Soul which turns into the Tax Collector NPC if you use Purification Powder on him

Its also a lot easier to find titanium/adamantite on hells roof. Its also cool for lava fishing, although can get a little annoying
