In real life, obsidian is as fragile as ordinary glass, but in Minecraft it’s one of the hardest and most durable blocks. That’s why it’s hilarious that Mojang is now giving real-world materials properties closer to reality, instead of making them more fantastical like before.

Obsidian is the odd one out here and always has been. Most other blocks (even old ones) match their real world equivalents much more closely than obsidian. The more fantastical blocks have always been fantasy materials that don’t exist in real life
