Hey guys! Back with a major update for Caloric Flux, my thermodynamics-based energy mod for NeoForge 1.21.1.
First off, a huge thank you for the incredible feedback on the initial release. It really motivated me to expand the mod! I’ve recorded a short video showcasing the new mechanics for versions 1.1.0 & 1.1.1.
The Core Concept (For those who missed the first post)
Instead of burning coal for free energy, you generate FE using the temperature difference (Delta-T) between the left and right sides of the generator. Heat sources aren't infinite, though—they degrade over time (e.g., Lava cools into Magma, Blue Ice melts). To keep the power flowing, you need automation.
What's New in the Video?
- Thermalloy Expansion Manifold: A physical extension block. Place it on the top, bottom, or back of the generator, right-click, and watch the custom deployment animation as it physically connects to the generator!
- Byproduct Routing Processor: Automatically safely removes degraded blocks (like Magma) and routes them into the Manifold's inventory.
- Unified Buffer Processor: Massively increases energy capacity (+100k FE).
- Dynamic Inventory Synergy: The Manifold's inventory slots are locked by default. Installing the Byproduct card unlocks 1 slot, but combining it with the Buffer card expands it to 5 active slots!
- The Cost of Automation: Balance is key. Processors aren't free—they passively drain FE/t. You must maintain a high Delta-T to keep your net energy yield in the positive.
Visuals, QoL & Integrations
- Config Overhaul: Split into Server and Client configs. You can now tweak everything from energy capacities and module drains to visual thermometer bounds.
- GuideME & JEI: All new recipes (like Raw Thermalloy and the Manifold itself) are fully integrated into JEI and the in-game Guidebook.

I need your feedback!
Since this update includes a lot of new content, I'd really appreciate it if you could share your thoughts!
Thanks for checking it out, and let me know what you think!

> burning coal for free energy
You heard it right here folks, the coal industry is considered free energy.
Love the animations, and I especially love that you can see that its got upgrades slotted just by looking at the front
Finally, actual thermal expansion
