Maybe they could make a Climbing Axe that does that, similar to Lara Croft's.
It could even be a new form of MLG, but only if the wall is long enough (it slowly lowers your speed until reaching the base speed of the tool), and then you safely reach the ground slowly.
Meaning, you couldn't fall from the sky and save yourself with a 1-block tall wall.
The idea is good, but not for the Spear.

Sticking to walls ok. But I feel like the launching yourself of the ground thing would just be another god like combo with the mace that pro PvPers would use the hell out of. It's just my personal opinion but I think windcharges + mace is enough.

You should be able to enchant tridents with that as well

fun fact: people also use really long sticks to jump off decently high places to stab it into the ground and slide with the stick using it like a fireman pole
