  1. Imo, 80% of the 1.4.5 update is gimmicks and bloat. I've played if for about a week when it came out and haven't touched the game since because the game as a whole was made so much worse. The seeds were one of the few things I genuinely looked forward to but all of them are situated somewhere between horrible and meh. My current theory is that the devs let their school- and preschool-aged kids throw out ideas and then put ALL of them in the game without any adult supervision whatsoever.

  2. You put to words thoughts I couldn't describe. I tried every seed at once itching for a crazy challenge but almost all the times the interactions were making themselves known it just… sucked. Terraria's still my favorite game of all time (though Warframe's been giving it some good company lately) and that challenge made me quit for longer than I ever had just because it got past a fun level of difficulty and just started to feel more spiteful than anything. Hope interactions become new seeds/options and they split up the older ones while keeping and adding some preset combos, that'd be fun.

  3. I think id like the current system changed, with secret seeds adding presets or options
And maybe add some hints for secret serds so that you arent just going through some list of the internet to unlock them, maybe little main menu secrets that also unlock stuff, like maybe oldschool terraria preset would be unlocked by grabbing the sun
That way you have the thrill of unlocking stuff and using secrets without the mess of the current system

  4. I’ve wanted to play in a normal world that has both world evils for *so long*. Every time I make a new world, I think about doing Drunk seed for the dual world evils, but decide against it because I don’t want all the other baggage of drunk seed.

The single thing I most wanted from the new Secret Seeds in the update, the single thing I was more surprised than any to find was not a secret seed option in the update, was a dual evil seed. And honestly? It has actually impacted my interest in replaying the game.

  5. Honestly I think the biggest disappointment I've had so far with 1.4.5 is that, if I recall correctly, I tried to set up double dungeons and the vampire one and it spawned me on the surface instead of underground, probably due to dungeon generation. Which means I died over. And over. And over. Eventually I got underground but I genuinely think that the vampire seed should spawn you at night, on the surface, and include some kind of special ability that isn't just being able to equip items sooner. Imagine if you could turn into a bat right from the very beginning, that would be an amazing power to just. Have. At least spawning with the item instead of having to find it could be cool. Lifesteal would also be cool but probably end up becoming broken for early bosses. Maybe you spawn in with an item like the vampire knives that are rebalanced for the game mode, I dunno. The thing that makes a lot of vampire mods work for other games is the ability to craft items that help you resist sunlight, and that doesn't exist in Terraria as far as I'm aware, so that's half your day completely useless and a lot of events that can't spawn at night. Make them spawn at night. Let me fight every event overnight. Make the character not take damage during the solar eclipse since, you know, the sun is blocked and other vampires can spawn during the day for it. There's a lot of little features they seem to have not included that would make most of these seeds better.

  6. The single most requested and fun modifier you can have is having both Evil biomes, but the Drunk seed fuses Ice and Jungle biomes which makes half the world COMPLETELY empty, this was their chance to fix that, most obvious fumble in history

  7. Would be cool if Terraria did do world settings like Don't Starve Together.
Like 7 Days to Die has this feature for many years as well and now they are double downing on it and adding ALOT more for their next big update and even a way to share your settings with friends. Or like a youtuber share's their own settings so their followers can have a jab at the same challenge themselves.
Love when Devs give players more freedom

  8. The seed I was most excited for was Hardcore lowers your max HP and the fact that I can't play that without needing to eat and not entering darkness fully killed my desire to play it.
I'd love the ability to toggle certain effects.

  9. I generally agree with this analysis. Having secret seeds be presets for an in-depth world option set would be incredible. Personally, I like the bottom of the world being deadly, it always felt weird to stand on it. Meteor showers shouldn't do damage, or if they do, have a warning similar to automatic boss spawns, so you can make plans around them.

  10. I honestly prefer the 1.4.4 seed system with there only being a few well designed seeds, but the introduction of world customization would be nice to have in vanilla.

  11. So… tldr: "devs added customization options, but they arnt the exact customization options I wanted, I didn't enjoy the new options, so they are bad."

They wanted to keep the core game, but cater to a more diverse community too. It's litteralky the same as most games Gen rules. It's just not as fine tune control yet.

  12. The thing is I dont think secret seeds were meant to be this big thing. I think they were just meant to be fun little side projects the devs would work on when they were bored.

  13. i definitely remembering being dissapointed that being a vampire does nothing else for the player. like imagine starting out with different hp values or hell different number of accessory slots. unique upsides and downsides for these types of seeds would have been so cool

  14. Just coming from a casual who only has 1200 hours in the game, my wife and I like the meteor showers (yes even the damage…like, they're not hard to dodge and it's a fun unique addition), the cool boulders, the tons of slimes, and most of the new content. We haven't tried many of the other seeds, but we are trying to get every achievement. We are currently in a zenith (get fixed boi) world and absolutely hate it. So I guess to each their own.

On another note, I totally thought you could walk on the bottom of the world, went to show my wife, and we both died. she got pretty mad, understandably.

A customizable system would be awesome though.

  15. I mostly just hate the achievements for it. Normally side content should of course get some achievements for it to probably encourage it more, but this doesn't feel like that kind of content to get it, annoying to get or not
