the mana issue is most games use mana as resource to use abilities depending on situation and its a resource you need to manage, in terraria its just a battery or stamina
One way or another, playing mage involves masochism.
Dear Sorbet,
I can help but notice that your not-very-recent video from like 3 years ago showcased some respect for your own and the viewer's time when participating in a challenge run. You can just pick and choose to ignore parts of a challenge for it to be more fun and/or engaging, and it's not really disruptive to make up or change rules as you go along as long as it's reasonably within the spirit of the challenge. These things can be established before you start but if not it's not the end of the world I guess. Also I like your dress.
Adequate,
A nonchalant viewer
I feel like you could use loadouts to min-max this even harder
blood magic as a solution to the mana problem? they should look at noita the most mage centered game.
This is… how I've always played mage?? It's like the number one accessory. Huh, maybe that's why people who don't like mage don't like it.
Though now that I think about it, it being almost completely necessary does mean it's problematic.
ancient forbidden cuff tech thats been around forever, still good tho
this. I know I'm a bit late, but I've always hated Mana Flower and its upgrades. Magic Cuffs all the way for me
but doesn't getting hit stop your natural regen? feels like a big deal in higher difficulties were every point of health matters, especially for a class as weak as the mage
the shit mages gotta do to keep up with melee's dps
this is so much funnier to me than it should be
all my homies HATE mana flower
@Sorbet Cafe, I have a take: Hallowed is mathematically better than Beetle in Legendary late game, specifically not during bosses. I did the math on Beetle [Shell] vs Hallowed armor for late game gfb [/True Zenith / FTW] with 109 defense hallowed and 132 defense Beetle, using Cross Necklace, worm scarf, and Frozen Shield. Hallowed gives more time to recall in every single scenario I tested with high damage (400, 700, and specific 1 shot damage values for hallowed >700). I tested each combination of having or not having life force and endurance. Every single time, hallowed gives you more time.
I think this is a SUPER valuable bit of info for hardcore players. ๐ I've always been a fan of hallowed armor, but I have been doing a softcore run of True Zenith as practice for hardcore, to learn the seed. I died to solar pillar because I used beetle armor and got 2 shot, and told the Terraria Fellowship of Mortals server that my 7th death was to wearing beetle armor instead of hallowed. They jumped on me super fast, so I proved it.. ๐
Hopefully you got through all that, and I think (even as a small note) that mentioning this could help lots of people.
Thankssssss!!!
I use mana cuffs so my girlfriends can stop me from moving when they chain me to the wall and Iโm at their mercy but this works too.
its interesting how many players dont know about this. this is the way ive been playing mage since 2014…minus the spikes. i always thought it was just the "normal" way to play mage until i started talking in the community more and found that basically everyone just chugs mana potions all day and im just sitting there thinking "but….dps…why would you do this?"
I thought this would be going over something Throarbin said in his mage build video, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a masochist mage build.
"I really like using cuffs"
I went through two mage playthroughs without knowing mana sickness decreased damage ๐
mage tank.
In my next play through Iโm definitely gonna be playing โmasochist mageโ ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฏ
The sad part is the way they have it set up i only ever use magic to inflict debuffs such as cursed flame or ichor. I basically mix it into my attack loop but i only ever fire a spell for a second or 2 which feels like the way they balanced/designed the game to be played. Magic is a sidearm, not a primary in most cases.
Sorbet is right, the mana system just sucks.
taking damage also lowers natural regen ๐
this is some galaxy brain stuff
cwaziest rhotacism I ever heard
waiting for 3 seconds of not attacking
"im gona make a whole video about this"
As a mage player who has been using the cuffs for years, it's nice to see them get some recognition
blood mage build
Wait the bat thing is actually cool af Iโm starting a new playthrough
