Is there a way to shorten this item filter by 1 from the left?

I need item filters to tile directly next to each other, have overflow protection, and be 1 filter item set in top hopper (not 41).

I made these 2 filters next to each other (repeating) and they work fine but is there a way to get rid of that little bulge on the left?

    If you’re on bedrock you can use a target block , comparator, and 3 dust with a torch it should speed it up and shorten it

    Forgot to mention: There must be a floor directly above so cannot do redstone there (otherwise, I’d be done and good to go), and the top hopper in the first picture is 1[filter item]/17/1/1/1 and the second picture is 1[filter item]/18/1/1/1.

    Update: I’m actually going to just throttle the input via chest input flow so that overflow protection isn’t needed and I can just do 1[filter item]/41/1/1/1.
