Magnets are normally not that useful except for ginger island. The thing about ginger island is that rarer artifacts are often found there in treasure chests. For example IN ONE DAY I GOT BOTH A DINOSAUR EGG AND AN ANCIENT SEED. So that is the answer to your question
I have the wilderness farm and yes, I exploded my stone walkway which caused me to prematurely retire my special explosion ring.
