The Stardew Valley update ruined NL’s life
Stardew Valley update coming out worst thing that’s ever happened to me in my entire life I [ __ ] hate this game man I hate all my all my favorite streamers are playing it they’re all making [ __ ] pea farms and taking little porcelain dolls to Vanessa so that they
Can get married in like 12 Seasons or something like that I just I don’t know just it’s I’m not trying to tear down stardo Valley I’m just taking up the Vanguard of the stardo valley haters I just think it [ __ ] annoys me the people are like I like it cuz
It’s cozy and then when you watch them play the game they have like 17 spreadsheets open and they’re like I literally have to plant my edamami on day three of the Fall cycle otherwise I won’t get enough gold in order to be able to buy the wooden hoe in order to
Break get the prize from the Strawberry Festival that lets me break the rock so in the first winter season I can get to level 37 of the dungeon like it’s meanwhile you’re playing glorified quap uh at homm

Honestly, I accept this because at least he's hating on something he completely knows about instead of just vaguely knowing something and being a hater
Can someone explain to me why I love ACNH but find Stardew Valley intolerable? I've had this illness for 4 years now, doctors say there's nothing wrong with me though. If it helps, I love Uncut Gems and would never walk out on it
Stardew valley being cozy is the biggest piece of misinformation on the Internet. It's cozy for me now but thats because maximised the shit out of everything for the first 3 years. It's cozy once you literally beat the game.
Im too OCD and goal oriented to enjoy stardew. Played multiplayer with my wife for days on release, it always devolves into me just fishing to pass the time while she's trying to hit goals lmfao.
Now shes been asking me to play the update 😭 I'll stick to drg survivor for my mindless games ttvm
You know I want to say it’s unfair to hate but I get it. When a game you aren’t really interested in releases and everyone you want to watch is only playing that game it can be frustrating. It doesn’t mean the game is bad or that they shouldn’t be playing it but for sure it can be a bit irritating and the way this dude expressed that frustration was honestly pretty calm lol
I think for “cozy” it gets easier to split hairs on what you like and don’t like because there no action to distract you. I love Stardew but can’t stand ACNH. To me ACNH is too slow, but not in a factorio way, but in a I literally fell asleep the last 3 times I tried playing it.
You know at first I was immediately gonna default to just dismissing him cause, well, I’ve been watching NL for a long time and he does this kind of thing A LOT, but, much to my own surprise as someone who loves Stardew Valley, I actually kinda agree with him. For something that’s a lot of people’s comfort game it’s surprisingly complicated and stressful, and people who stream it on the regular usually have these insane set ups that I could never hope to achieve. It can feel pretty alienating and like it’s going against the way it’s marketed. It’s rare I find myself agreeing with his weird and often misplaced contrarianism, especially when it comes to indie games, but he makes an alright case for why the phenomenon is honestly kinda absurd.
It’s so funny because Apollo was just talking about how no one wants to watch cozy chill streams anymore and speedrunning kinda ruins the Stardew vibes. So if you want a nice chill Stardew stream, definitely check out Apollo’s and show some love for the cozy vibes!
kinda reminds me of the reason some people prefer other survival games over terraria
as a terraria lover, unless youve been playing for a bit, the game dumbs down to either wiki searching, grinding for whatever you saw on the wiki, and then playing the actual game
but i use the cheat sheet mod anyway
I have never played Stardew Valley with a spreadsheet or tried to minmax it, most people don't try to speedrun Stardew lol
Ad hominem.
Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing seem like such similar games on the surface, but the minmaxing ethos is mostly absent from Animal Crossing. It's for a lot of reasons, but one of the big ones is that the day night cycle is actual day and night, which lets you just relax.
if a game constrains me with time during its gameplay, i cannot consider it a cozy game.
my mindset during the first time playing was "if grandpa doesnt give me the BEST evaluation after year 2 i will LITERALLY die"
Once you realize that the only “punishment” for playing sub-optimally is that you just have to play a little longer (which you’re going to do anyways if you enjoy the game), it’s not that hard to just let go of that pressure. Not saying that Stardew doesn’t incentivize min maxing, but you can definitely play it in a cozy manner if you just adjust your mindset
I think one of the reasons Stardew is so successful is that it appeals to minmaxers and normal people
I have two saves on the game
One is single player minmaxing and the other one is multiplayer chilling
I enjoy both
maybe in the beginning of a farm, I might min max the crops a bit to get money going, but after that Im sinking most of my time into mining and fishing because my brain longs for repetitive minigames. I totally understand that micromanaging chore games aren't for everyone, and I agree that the people who got a bunch of spreadsheets open while they play are a whole different breed of human lol
Chjb and Aksel :CAUGHT:
he’s right about the spreadsheet thing but also like my brother in christ you played nothing but dles and balatro for like 3 weeks straight LMAO
+2 and even if it was a truly relaxing game, that would even more boring
Stardew valley is only relaxing if you're the kind of person who can easily relax and avoid stressing about min/maxing, but the issue is that THAT'S LITERALLY EVERY GAME! We got egg over here playing a foddylike and his ass is chill as hell. It's arguably more chill because there isnt a clock constantly ticking down.
Players will always optimize the fun out of every game
Stardew offers nothing over the og harvest moon from fking 1964. Indie devs just making worse version of already existing games pagman 🤙
Glorified QWOP? Yeah, actually, more than you realize.
A Difficult Game About Climbing is just Getting Over it but climbing. Sure. That's QWOP. Already a dunk. But do you know who made first Foddian game about climbing? Like with your hands? Bennet fucking Foddy. Who remembers GIRP? You know, QWOP's sequel?
So, to recap:
A Difficult Game About Climbing is just Getting Over It which is just glorified QWOP.
But A Difficult Game About Climbing is ALSO just glorified GIRP which is even more just QWOP.
What I am saying is A Difficult Game About Climbing is so glorified QWOP that it's inbred. Take from that what you will.
NL truly embodying “the streamer who cried ad hominem” 😂
the reason none of you can just chill while playing stardew is because you all have been poisoned by hustle culture. hustle culture has poisoned everyone so much that even imagining losing at a video game to have more fun is out of the question.
One thing i think we all can appreciate about NL is that he will go on a tangential tirade where he makes a few valid points scattered amongst logical fallacies for the sake of entertainment, then he responds the weakest argument from chat and points out THEIR logical fallacies. Checkmate, athiests!
I get it, i aint harvesting his crops, but i get it.
+2 mult based
"Uh ad homonim" lol
The big brain move is to play multiplayer and have each person specialized in one or two aspects, removes time crunch and brings back coziness plus you get to vibe with friends.
I love optimizing and having a million different tasks to bounce between. That is cozy to me, it soothes my brain. Without the time pressure in Stardew I would get bored.
THIS is the representation that we need in more media
This is what happens when Slay The Spire players try Stardew Valley
I agree completely, but I still love Stardew.
Man must’ve popped into a Blade stream once or something. That dude always has like 7 tabs open while playing stardew and I gotta respect it to be honest.
THIS IS COMING FROM THE GOLF WITH YOUR FRIENDS SPREAD SHEET MAKER. Egg is a hypocrite
Ok but that whole process is really fun though.
The best opinion
I hate star view valley, it takes half the day just to walk to the shop it is soo tedious and repetitive
His rant sounded like a high scoring Balatro hand at the end
