first of all there is five modes in terraria and the fifth is legendary plus expert is the best difficulty because it gives bosses new AIs and adds a lot of new items such as the shield of cthulhu
When I play Journey, I get rid of a lot of the starting equipment, like the summon, wings and grappling hooks, then turn it up to 1.25 to 1.50 difficulty. Sometimes I turn on God mode, but only for simple things like fishing

Also if Iām not mistaken you can also customize the difficulty in Journey mode in any way you want
Expert is the best mode, no doubt.
A lot of modded modes are locked in journey, classic, master.
My man you forgot about calamity infernum while blindfolded and kidnapped and tortured, absolute W mode best it four times š„š„š„
Master mode is players who can handle it
For starters, for your first playtrought i recomend classic not too difficult not so easy ,the base experience
I just play Journey set to Expert, skip all the grind

I always prefer expert foe the loot,but,if it wasnt for it,ig i would play classic cuz its pretty chill

Journey mode is basically creative mode but you have to collect the items yourself before you can dupe them which isn't too hard for most items

Classic is no one's go to, the expert drops make the game fun. Also if you can't do master mode then get good
Legendary : like Minecraft april fools is so difficult but fun
Master mode + Hardcore is a great combo (had a slime rain spawn 5 seconds after creating new world)
Journey mode is really Burger Kimg mode: Have it your way
Terraria also overuses the word "mode"
