How long would it take to mine an entire World…with a Copper Pickaxe?
This is another bad Terraria idea, but it’s better than the alternative. We’re going to try to find out how long it would take to mine and entire Terraria world with a copper pickaxe…without actually doing it.

I feel like the best way to calculate this would to just tally up every block at each hardness, multiply that by how long it takes to mine at each hardness value, and then sum that result to get the exact amt of time. it doesn't include actually getting to each block to mine or moving over to each block. it's precisely the duration taken to mine every block in the world in isolation.

Instead of mining an entire world with a copper pickaxe, mine an entire world with the Digging Molecart

Note: I feel the faster way to deal with the ocean would be to mine clear down to the bottom of the map and let the water drain that way before going after the sand in said ocean. You'd already have one of your columns done, and wouldn't have to worry about the water washing out your torches… Of course, future you would still have to deal with any obsidian created by all that water draining to the hell-biome. You COULD always reload the world to settle liquids after drilling the first hole, but the travel back to the ocean would be pretty long if you aren't using a conch. Would any of that be worth the trade offs, I don't know; I'm just spitballing here. lol
PS: You always pick such interesting music to go with these. I figured I'd let you know that the effort going into picking those isn't wasted on some of your viewers. 🙂

you could get a group of people say 15-20 people to do a co stream to mine the world. time each persons section and still get a human time.
probably with buffs and ftw so u could do one section in a 8-10 hour stream. then add the times together.
would need to find the right people for that to be a good stream or some charity to have an excuse to do it
Estimation, before watching: Forever, because Copper Pickaxe < Evilstone, Dungeon Brick, Obsidian, Hellstone, Lihzard Brick…
So how about convincing 12 or so people to join in on your project of mining a world?
using the explosives to mine and not using a copper shortsword (or like a lawnmower or something if you really want to pick the worst weapon) to kill the bosses is cheating

I have a challenge idea. What would it be like to play as the unluckiest player possible? That means any items that have less than 100% drop rate would never drop for you, so you'd have to beat the game with only guaranteed drops. Dunno if it's possible, but it could be fun.
