on the mana run and mage. We’re hoping that we’ll be able to beat it today. Um, off camera, we gathered a few things. Um, primarily that being the bundle of horseshoe balloons and um Oh, right. We we finally got the uh the putrid scent. What What does that combine with? Wait, was it this one? Yeah, this one. So, we we finally got the putrid scent after like 12. Oh, right. 12. um that makes it it was really really bad. So right now we’re now finally able to use the crystal uh storm. Um and what we want to do with this thing is we were going to farm for a a horn, the ancient horn or however that’s uh pronounced, whatever that’s called. Because of that combined with Oh, wait a minute. Hold the phone. I think that’s an expert mode only. Hold up. I should look that up. Is that in Is expert only? Okay. No, it’s not expert only. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. We can still get this thing. So, with that, cuz right now, in order to use the crystal storm, I have to have almost all mana reduction accessories except for this one mobility accessory. So, to help with bosses, I want to have the bundle horseshoe balloons combined with the horn. And that should keep us uh pretty strong and mobile. Why you streaming so early? I wasn’t sure if we could beat the wall like that in expert mode at least. Maybe there’s a way. There probably is a way. But I decided we just, you know, not have to wor not worry about that and just, you know, go for it in classic mode. Let’s see. What is today’s boss goal? I guess we will have one thing that’s going to change once we uh beat all the mechs that might make things a little more difficult, and that is that we’re going to be switching the glorified headgear with um a diamond robe. So, we might be losing some defense. Reason being that that is our max mana reduction that we can get. So, that will let us actually use some more weapons. It’s the first thing you ever watch. Neat. Now that we’re in hard mode, we can get a good number more than we were able to in preh hard mode. We want to be able to use the magic harp, razor pine, bubble gun. Um, let’s see here. the leaf blower. We might be able to use a few more. I think we’ll be able to use the ice rod, which would be nice. Not like a great weapon, but at least it could be used defensively. Could be quite helpful for this run. Maybe you need to start bombing things to really open this area up. It does have some extra mobility and stuff like the terasark boots though. Maybe I should switch which one has terasark boots and which one has lightning boots. I think that might be a good idea. I remember Back Zapinator only run. Yeah, Zapinator would be would uh be interesting. Very random. I outlawed uh meteor armor for this run because I wanted to focus on actually using one mana as opposed to just making it into a Zampin editor only run. Also, Beaverack is in the next pass the world, so that’s exciting. Let’s see here. Can use the pine needle shoe. Yes, I can use the uh the razor pine. That is something we can use. That was one of the really big considerations for this run was if I choose classic mode, will I be able to have enough accessories to actually use weapons? We should make the holiday. Yes, every there is not a single mage weapon that only uses one mana. So, we have to stack insane amount of mana reduction in order to use any of the weapons in hard mode. In preheard mode, we were just locked into Wanda Frosting no matter what because all you need is literally any mana reduction to make that just a one mana weapon. Thanks to rounding. So even if I consume mana, I still just have one. So if I have a weapon, I could spam it infinitely, which isn’t maybe how it should work, but it’s just how it does work. Ouch. Ouch. not begun to experience bad luck yet. Well, we definitely have bad luck so far, but who’s to say how bad it’s going to get? Hopefully, we don’t find out. And it drops here soon. What if I didn’t want an ancient horn? Yeah, an ancient horn would be the absolute worst. I would hate if one of those dropped. It really just harm the run and really just my opinion of Terraria as a whole. It would just it would be absolutely devastating to me if an ancient horn were to drop from a from a bassilisk that I really hope does not spawn. Like that would just be lame. Super lame. The next thing that we’re going to be streaming is going to be Terraria starting from only one rope. No special seed, no glitches, just one rope. There’ll be a couple of starting things, but it’s kind of a my personal twist on the one block idea, and I think there’s enough things in it that are different to make it interesting. I haven’t gotten the whole path figured out yet, but I think I have it pretty nailed down. Or at least I think I have the most important stuff figured out. They try on mobile. So, it’ll be something where it’s like, yeah, we’ll we’ll farm and show how this is going to work for a little while and then we’ll like use cheats or something to kind of fast forward um through it while also, you know, making sure that I’m not wrong and these things can actually be obtained when I think they can. It’s a very versatile weapon for challenge runs, I suppose. Low mana, so you can use it there. High fire rate, piercing, bounces, kind of does anything that a challenge run might need. Wait, mage is the way to go with destroyer. Yeah, it is. Mage is the way to go for everything. Obviously [Music] any piercing weapon in paladins destroy. Well, any infinitely piercing weapon, yes. Yeah, it’s it’s it’s been rough. He’s six about 16 hours, I think, into hard mode and has not beaten a single mech, let alone a single boss in hard mode. Well, other than a pre-h hard mode boss that he discovered in hard mode, but you know, you know, got the pirates almost instantly in my first playthrough. Ah, it’s rough. I feel like the the length of my streams have been has been gradually going up. largely just like there’s large chunks of times when I’m able that I’m able to set aside to stream lately. Like it used to be that I just had smaller chunks of time to set aside. Now I have larger chunks of time, but fewer chunks of time. Unfortunately, it seems like full is lost forever. Not anymore it’s not. Mario Party is a board game. No, it’s Demon Spawn. It is evil. They’re faring Mars anyone. I think I’ve heard of that one. Never played it though. Part of me almost wants to like has strongly considered trying like getting into as a job like making board games or something, but well that might just be uh very impractical. Maybe I can make a Thorbin official board game or even just make a board game and advertise on the channel or something. I don’t know. There there’s a lot that would go into it that I just don’t have the time for or resources for like making it. I can make I guess a card game or something that would be relatively cheap. But mostly there there’s the art and I can’t make the art myself. So, I’d have to hire an artist and that would be expensive. Okay, Jungle Temple. Yeah, just just keep going up. I I would have to create maybe I could uh intentionally try and create a game that’s very I guess I I guess simple where it’s like there’s not a whole lot of pieces, not a whole lot of different cards. So, I don’t need to hire an artist for too many of the uh the thingabobs. Ouch. Now, I need to figure out how how I would sell it cuz I don’t know if I’d do a Kickstarter. I don’t know what would be a good way of doing distribution, that sort of thing. things I’d have to figure out on top of how like what kind of very simple game would I want to make that only uses cards. I think I did think of something recently, but it’s just with like a regular deck of cards, which I guess I could make my own thing for it. Like there’s plenty of games that make their own custom decks that basically are just regular decks of cards with some extra rules or maybe one new card added in. Yeah, maybe I’ll do something like that. That’d be fun. That’d be a piece of merch I would be happy to sell. There’s a lot of merch I I don’t want to to sell because one, I don’t think the quality would be very high, and two, because I I don’t know what to make for it. I want to make something that would actually be worth your your time and money. I did try the plush though. I guess I I guess I’ll give that. Did try the whole plush thing. You guys voted for a tungsten cube and then didn’t buy it. So, it’s all your fault. Make the game, but every card is just a massive picture of your face on it and that’s the only difference. Oh dear. I probably wouldn’t even really make it very themed off of me or the channel. It’ probably just be like, “Hey, I made this thing, you can buy it, and it’s it’s just themed after whatever kind of theming I want to do.” So, I I like the idea of making stuff that’s broad appeal and not, “Hey, I’m a fan of Thorbin, so I bought this game.” Or, “I know of Thorbin, and that’s what this game is referencing.” It’s like, no, it’s just it’s its own thing. Granted, I didn’t go I didn’t dive as deep into it as I should have when I first started it. So, the first two books didn’t I didn’t have a lot written down and then afterwards I kind of had to they fit things around it. I think it worked out for the most part. But yeah, I I have a whole document with all the with the map, all the people, names, lore, reasons for different things, etc., etc. [Music] Oh, wow. This is easy in classic mode. some world building tips here. I don’t even know how I would give tips for world building personally. What What exactly are the tips for? If you’re building a world, it needs to follow its own rules and that’s that’s pretty much it. Otherwise, just have fun with it. I think I think something that can help with making a world feel more real, more full is that whenever you make a change, think about the practical everyday things that would be impacted by that change. So take for example, let’s say everybody in your world has wings. How would that affect the how the world is built? How would that affect architecture? night. There wouldn’t be, say you’re in a more modern world, you wouldn’t have any elevators anymore. Even say you’re in medieval world, ladders probably wouldn’t really be much of a thing anymore. There wouldn’t be a need for things like horses and that sort of thing in theory, unless you put some sort of stipulations on it. But yeah, think about how the changes you make would impact the everyday life of the people living in your world. that I think really helps make a world feel more believable, more full, more lived in. All right, let’s fight us occultist and see if we can complete this run. Say trees blow up if they get wet. There will be there’ be no trees unless you’re in a desert. Um, but he also couldn’t plant. Yeah, was making a book, but his main character is stupidly overpowered. That’s very common for a person’s first novel. Yeah, especially a younger person. Younger people, I think, really enjoy power fantasies. And as you get older, you start liking a lot more of the more realistic takes. I’m trying to make every detail mean something significant to the story. Yeah. Don’t make everything significant or or even really important for the the story. It’s just some things can be just for the world. Story is set aside. All right. You know, I don’t know if the cultist has many changes in classic versus expert. does so much more damage than I think it should or would assume that it would. Come on, buddy. Get over here. Oh, no. That’s that’s more about storytelling than world building. actually uh now I’m thinking about there’s one thing that I had thought about for a book of mine where it’s like with the magic system that well like let’s think about the implications of some of the these magic abilities like some some of them oh come on some of them I lost the how did I lose a cultist in classic mode oh my goodness oh anyways days um like in this in this world that I was talking about before I embarrassingly died um with magic the implications of let’s say people have magic powers and like people were able to kind of fuse magic powers together so people aren’t bored with it they get it through these these things and so if you infuse one magic power it’s very strong but you can infuse more magic powers but each time you infuse one, they all are progressively weaker. So, what if you infused, say, fire and healing magic together? You could use that for torture. So, you’re like burning somebody alive while also healing them to keep them alive. So, you can think of like implications like that where, oh, this could be used in this way, which might not be very important, but has an impact. It makes it feel more real.
