I've been playing MCE2 and was ready to setup my first ever fusion reactor to generate all the energy I'll ever need. MCE2 is a 1.20 modpack, and as near as I can tell, they have not modified the default configs for Mekanism. I decided to go into a creative world and test the setup and am using creative chemical tanks for the fuel inputs and creative energy for the lasers to kickstart the reactor.
So everything that I've read about fusion reactors is that they're pretty safe and do not explode. Also, it is recommended, at least at first, to use separate tritium and deuterium fuel input as it can be air-cooled and you don't have to manage the steam output.
However, with the minimum fuel injection setting of 2, I am immediately getting this message after I place the hohlraum in the reactor and kickstart it with the laser:
"Reaction Efficiency is bad"
"Reactor might explode!"
Sure enough, within a few moments, the heat runs out of control and it explodes, blowing the top off the reactor, and breaking/destroying nearby blocks.
So what am I missing? Am I running into issues that only occur in creative? Every tutorial I could find, specifically looking for more recent ones from the last year or so, haven't had any issue like this.

Its from the “better fusion reactor” mod which adds this stuff and also irradiates the area if you drop a polonium pellet for some reason
