For the slime hutch all you really need is to complete the quest of killing a 1000 slimes and you get a ring that makes you take no damage from them I usually put it in a chest outside of the hutch so I can replace 1 of the 2 rings I have on already and go collect the slime no problem
I believe the moon always appears in the corner of the profits/end of day screen on the 27th or 28th of every season
