Hi, I just finished working on my mod called BuildNotes, for the fabric mod loader.

So basically i sometimes dont play the game for weeks and when i come to my world i either would forget where things were and how to use my farms and sometiems i needed to write down say a command or something which i needed across world.

So i wanted a persistent notepad in Minecraft, and a builds section that could include screenshots/images for visual reference.

What it is

BuildNotes is a lightweight, in game notetaking and build tracking mod.

  • All notes and builds are categorized by "Scope," which determines where they are saved and who can see them.
    • World Scope: The default for single-player. Notes and builds are saved within a specific world's folder, keeping them tied to that world.
    • Global Scope: Notes and builds are saved to your global Minecraft config folder. This makes them accessible across all your worlds and even on servers, acting as a personal, persistent in-game notepad.
    • Server Scope: When both the client and a dedicated server have the mod, notes and builds can be saved to the server itself. These are visible to all connected players who also have the mod.
  • Build Tracker: It lets you create dedicated entries for your builds. You can save the coordinates, add a description, credit the designer, and upload multiple pics.
  • Advanced Editor: It has a custom text editor i made with undo/redo support.

How it will work on servers

When installed on a server (client and serverside):

  • Server-Scoped Notes: You can create notes and build entries that are automatically shared with everyone on the server who has the mod installed, each player still has their own per-server notes and build aside form the server ones.
  • Community Notice Board: Server notes can be used for things like a community notice board, a directory for all the shops and builds on the SMP with accompanying images, or server tours.
  • Permissions System: Server operators have a full command system to grant or revoke permission for who can edit those shared notes/builds.

/buildnotes allow <player>
/buildnotes disallow <player>
/buildnotes list
/buildnotes allow_all <true|false>

You can get the mod (for Fabric 1.18.2-1.21.10) here :

Try it out and let me know if u like it.

  1. This always happens to me as well lol, I have been playing stoneblock 4 and because of the sheer amount of stuff to do I always get lost when I log back in, this is definetly something I’d use.

Will you ever port it to forge/neoforge?
