i just built this portal at my base, it takes me to the nether all fine and dandy, but when i go through it to go back home it teleports me to a cave. ive tried this 3 times!
i had another portal that was working just fine, destroyed that one and the problem still persists. A friend of mine told me this is a bug, any way around it?

weird portal linking stuff for sure
Link it properly by dividing the x and y coordinates by 8!
Make this the coordinates of the new nether portal.
Probably the offset triggered when the portal linking Overworld to the nether, it sometimes happen when the location is deemed as block, maybe lava?
You can find the portal location XYZ and calculate nether portal XYZ, go there, clear up the location and link again.
The cave is closer to the equivalent nether side location of the portal, you need to build one nether side closer to the equivalent position of your main portal (Overworld [x,y,z] -> Nether [x/8,y,z/8]), which is likely in a wall.
link your overworld portal to your nether portal. find your overworld xyz cord and divide it by 8 and find it in the nether. this works for me. just try it maybe it can help.
heh, portal really said “i got candies down here”
Solved! Thank you to everyone who commented!
