I stumbled across a wing fic for Sherlock and got excited bc my favorite fanfic trope is giving the characters wings. They kept referring to the various characters as Apex or Zenith, and I assumed it was something to do with their bird species.
No turns out it was the writers rebranding of Alpha/Beta/Omega concept, and by the end of the fic, it was straight up porn.
Taught me real fast that checking the tags is a crucial step preceding the reading of a fic. Thankfully my preferred site has a pretty good tag filtering system.
Fun fact he’s probably comparing it to kirk and spock because star trek basically invented modern fandom culture and thus everything that comes with it
