  1. On my server, villagers were disabled. So getting mending was insanely hard. This made the normal 2 week phase last over half a year

  2. End is either banned or you make it harder to get too? That’s one Idea I have seem on keeping a server from dying

  3. IMO the big things are to make sure your seed is hidden & also if there is a way to force resource pack to avoid xray packs.

  4. Rubix_Official63940 on

Just keep people interested. Run weekly/monthly events like build battles, PvP arenas, opening the end, etc. Some people are eventually gonna move on with their lives and stop playing, but that’s just life, nothing you can really do

  5. End is locked until there’s a 3×3 (or larger) usable bi-directional subway with rails at bedrock that reaches the world border. (scale to something reasonable or design other infrastructure projects.)

Have the opening of the end be an actual scheduled event everyone can be there for.

disable mending, and silktouch. (important to keep an economy going, smoothstone is no longer free, tools/armor need to be replaced.)

in general make things more expensive. hoppers requiring blocks of iron for example. (any sort of afk farming should be disabled/banned. mob grinders, iron farms etc.)

Some of those things are easier to do than others of course. Minecraft has unfortunately become “copy/paste someone else’s farm design, then stop playing because you’re bored.”

  6. host competitions. some serious, like build contests and pvp matches, and some silly, like pig races and music recitals (where the only instruments provided are goat horns). if you win a competition, you get one Cool Token (working title, replace with a reference to your school if a suitable one exists).

Cool Tokens do nothing, but the player who has the most Tokens in their inventory (not ender chest) have the Cool rank. this only puts the word Cool in front of their name in yellow text, and does nothing else, but players will want to be the coolest. multiple players can have this rank if they are tied for having the most Tokens.

then, on the first day of every month, for 20 minutes, at a time when people aren’t busy, allow griefing and murder. this will naturally make alliances form around using this time to steal Tokens from other players, and also cause damage that needs to be repaired, increasing playtime.

… ok, maybe don’t do that last part if this server is supposed to be chill.

  7. Idk why end is banned, it makes it harder to get to and from bases of others.

Do contests and competitions, establish a diamond based economy, don’t ever use cheats

Keep inventory could be turned on but it depends on the people playing

  8. What worked for me was mods. I helped to make a mod pack between myself and a friend to start an RP server. We got guns, engineering, industry, planes, y’know, the works. This greatly expanded the progression of the game and gave us goals that were close enough within reach to try, but not so close that we would get them done in the span of a few days. We also only had the server active for every other month, giving us an “off season” to research tech from our many mods.

  9. I always wished someone in my school did something like this. Unfortunately, they never did. Other unfortunately, i was the kid everyone bullied so i can imagine that being 10x easier for them to do on a minecraft server
