For me it was through an OG Minecraft YouTuber called “Chrisandthemike” where he used to do those Minecraft let’s plays with his family and if I remember correctly it was with his sister, his dad, and his step mother.

At first I just thought it was a cool game but as time went on, I kinda wanted to start playing it. So my dad bought me an Xbox 360 (God, I feel old) and that’s basically how it started for me. Though I stopped playing in like 2012 and only got back recently, which I mean feels weird but I do like the changes that the games made

We played on a learning app called [Coding.org](http://Coding.org) there was a game about Minecraft, so we were curious. My parents took us to the game store, brought Minecraft, and we loved it.

My brother doesn’t really play it anymore, but I still love it, since I was 9.

My brother. We were in the phase of trying all kinds of mobile games, but Minecraft stuck with us.

  3. Classmates showed it to me but I couldn’t play the modern version because I was a penniless teenager with no bank account so I played the classic version that used to be available on the Minecraft website you played through the browser. Didn’t always work, my internet wasn’t always strong enough.

Kept seeing youtube videos about it in 2012 then I downloaded Mineshafter to play it for free in 2012.

  5. my best friend in primary school invited me to her house and she showed me her mc world, i was obsessed with the idea of just building whatever you wanted. before that i played survivalcraft so i guess that could count too

  7. YouTube. Specifically Seananners doing his Let’s Play introducing the game to all of his viewers back in 2010. Two episodes in and I was buying the alpha for myself.

I heard about a game with totally destructable environments you could play in browser with other people, every instance you could join was already complety destroyed except for pillars and bridges made by other people just messing around. As soon as they started selling the game i bought a copy, been playing it ever since.

  9. I went over to a friends house to spend the night and they showed me it (I was never allowed to play video games growing up)

  10. Elementary science club. Dude was the cool guy and gave me a pirated copy before I even knew what pirating even was.
Stopped playing for the longest after a patch separated me from playing with friends.

  11. I got it on Kindle Fire HD back in the early 2010s. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE was talking about this new game called “Minecraft.” Those were good times. I think i was in 2nd grade when it happened. Now im 22 and have been playing longer than most of the current fanbase has been alive lol. Side note: I had no idea what to do with the nether reactor core for an embarrassingly long time. Like 2 or 3 updates before they removed it long…

  12. Somewhat to what someone else said, me and my friends used to play it on the school computers lol during boys and girls club in elementary school

Classmates playing the pocket edition back in 4th grade, I think it was around 2012-2013? Made a vow to myself I’d try it when I get myself a phone lol

Me and my friends found it while searching for flash games to play in the computer room in school and back then it was just a browser game with maybe one chunk to play in and it was only creative with maybe 15 to 20 blocks to choose from.

It was crazy going from that to survival at the time

Saw a video posted on Facebook. It was a link to some website that wasn’t YouTube I don’t think. It was of the very first beta that was downloadable And wasn’t just the browser version. Played the browser versi5then decided o pay like $11 for it and give it a try.

  17. My friend brought his computer around to mine and his older brother had installed a cracked version of alpha to his computer, we both fell in love we used to watch let’s plays I used to fall for the Minecraft premium account generators all the time lol until a few years later when I could finally convince my mum to add her card to the website and buy me a premium account, never looked back but the old days were the best

  18. I played Minecraft for the first time back in 2009, on the official [minecraft.net](http://minecraft.net) page. I remember that to use /fly, glass blocks would appear under your feet and you’d fly by jumping. I also remember seeing Notch playing on the public servers there. I feel a lot of nostalgia and affection for those memories. I still play nowadays, but not with the same nostalgia.

  19. Joey Graceffa lol. Watched his Let’s Plays, got knock off mobile Minecraft before getting a laptop I could play it on.

Was laggy af but still played. Getting a mouse was a game changer from mousepad lol.

  20. i saw my cousin playing it on his ps3 when i was 6 and asked what it was, he told me and then later my other cousin (his sister) had me try it with her on the ps3, i asked my parents to buy it for me the same day, we didn’t have a console tho so i started out on java, initially me and my dad shared an account but then i got my own account in 2016 and the one we shared became only his, thats why my namemc profile says 2016 despite me getting the game in 2014
