This may not be accurate with the lore at all, but in my interpretation the crimson is not just a disgusting imalgimation. It’s the sentient hivemind of Cathulu’s rotting, decaying brain trying to repair its unfixable damage. A conciousness so twisted and rotten beyond repair that it’s mind believes there is nothing wrong with it, like watching an insane or diseased person try to cope by acting as if everything is fine, and as the crimson tries to repair itself it spreads its rot and twistedness, devouring anything that isn’t like it, but since it’s sentient, it’s smart enough to use tricks to lure you
Particularly in the music, you hear distorted themes of the hallow and underground, which not only seems like the crimson trying to imitate these biomes, but feels like a desperate attempt from the crimson to heal its rot and be like a normal biome. You even see its caves have a similar shape and entrance found within the regular terraria biomes, those caves in the side of a hill

This is actually accurate. The Corruption it’s just like the Hallow in the sense it’s a force of nature, but The Crimson it’s actually alive.
The only thing I would’ve loved to see it’s an eye somewhere like in the game.
