So Xmas is here, and I thought I’d take a break from utilitarian buildings to try and make something more attractive for Santa to stay in during his brief stay.
For those wondering, the background walls are Snow Fall Walls and Cloud Walls… the Snow Wall are too dark to my thinking.
The online information is confusing, but you can trigger Christmas for 1 in game day (or Halloween) by beating the Frost Legion event (or the Pumpkin Moon for Halloween) at any time during the year. Then hope Santa turns up briefly, and you grab all the animated Xmas deco off him (the tree, the lights, etc)… During the holidays, you have from the 15th until the 31st, time taken from your devices clock, for him to appear, as long as you have a home available.
The presents drop from any mob that gives loot whilst the event is active. They can be opened or used as deco as here; they will show a random colour when placed. They also contain the Pine Tree blocks which gives you the much nicer tree shapes; see the trees to the right of the globe. The wreath, egg nog glass, pudding and cookie are also in the presents, all but the first are then put into your hotbar and targetted at a crafted, and placed Plate to mount them. The central globe on the roof is a craftable, and the table, and hut wood is Rich/Living Mahogany. Angel is a Gravestone.
Whilst Xmas is still active, go to the Painter NPC, and click Decora (not shop), that’s where the festive Wallpapers are; I used one for the bottom of the hut. Roof is just standard wood walls.
