I grew tired of replacing fences (vanilla game, Year 3, not enough money for the clock) and I remembered that someone once said they’d replaced their fences with lightning rods and let me tell you— this is genius!!!
Personally I prefer tea bushes but this is great too. You still need fence posts for the gate to work properly, but that is much easier to manage than an entire degrading fence.

This is the way. They don’t damaged and give you batteries. Fences are useless. Long live lightning rods.

This, too, is an electric fence.

lightning rods, cheese makers, mayo machines, etc. that’s what my fences are made of. Some alternatives that gives a bit more aesthetic are tea bushes and the hay bale decorations Marnie sells (250g ea).

Even better:
* put grass first
* then put the rod lightning rod on it

Efficient yes, but personally, I think that’s one ugly ass ‘fence’. No offense.
I just learned that hardwood fences last 500 days. That’s almost 20 ingame years. Efficient and pretty.

If you’re going for a more natural aesthetic you can alternate trees and mushroom logs for a fence too! And then free mushrooms 🙂
