Behold, the fruits of my labour! Animal crackers are pretty easy to find with 2x Treasure Hunter + Magnet Bait + Pirate Profession. Considering how easy they are to catch in comparison to what I expect (except for Glacierfish, he can go fuck himself,) it's a pretty damn good return on investment.
Sure, they lose their quality, but I was never really in it for quality, only collection. When I caught my first leg (Legend because I was bored), I didn't really know what to do with it so I just threw it in a pond, their aged roe sell for 7084g! That's insane! Set up a couple preserves jars and other fish ponds you get yourself some easy money.
Mixed with golden animal crackers can make your yield insane. I got 10 Mutant roe, 4 Angler roe, and 8 Glacier roe from one day. Insanely cracked.

Which fish are you going to put in your future sixth pond? I suggest Lava Eel for its color.
TIL animal crackers work on fish! I’ve never had more than a sturgeon pond, maybe I should change that…
Do you suggest ponds for the qi challenge fish too?
My wife and I are doing a river farm run because she loves the fishing mini game and I had no idea it was this lucrative! She was laughing at me for making her some more ponds but then she caught a lava eel and now we have a lava pond — she’s thrilled.

It’s such good shit man. Playing with my gf now and I went craaaaazy hard on fishing year 1 spring. There was a rainy day towards the end of the month and I had hit 9 fishing so I grabbed some buff food from willy and went and caught The Legend year one. I also do waaay too many crops so my farming level hit 6 for preserve jars very quickly and I was shocked how much money I had by the first summer.
No joke my first summer field was hundreds of crops. When the bookseller came on the 18th summer I was able to buy both speed up books and the sliterlegs books lol. Absurdly satisfying.
In case you didn’t know, you can put signs on the ponds and it will show what fish/how many are in there.
You ain’t gotta tell me. I am a legendary fish pond enjoyer. You can easily make 10,000-100,000+ gold a day.
Pretty fun side hustle from the usual artisan / ancient fruit shenanigans. I like the simple process of collecting all the roe and putting it into preserve jars.
Then when you see the actual profit it’s awesome how little work goes into it… after you catch the legendary fish of course. But that’s a whole other discussion lol
