CA’s answer to the question about the Dev Team.

  1. Why don’t people just accept that this is how he works, and how he creates/updates his games is entirely his prerogative. It’s so wild to me that people consider it their business to tell him what he should or shouldn’t do. It’s so arrogant.

WhY nOt hIrE a dEv tEaM?!
As if that is something he never could have thought of on his own after 15 years of developing games.

Why are people bothering this man??? Let him catch butterflies nakkie if he wants. Let 👏🏼him 👏🏼cook

  3. He has done all his work up to now alone (or mostly alone anyways), that is why I think his game(s) are special. You are playing a handmade passion project of a man that has been at it for more than a decade now.

  4. This is why I sort of wish he hadn’t announced Haunted Chocolatier as early as he did. It got a certain section of the fan base so riled up, while CA is just working at his own pace to make the game just right. Like geez, let the man cook.

  5. I can’t understand how he went from being loaded with praise for doing Stardew Valley on his own to people now being upset that he is once again… Making a game by himself?? Stardew Valley is still quite enjoyable and with the mod community you can turn it into a totally different game. I’ve seen people turn this into a murder mystery. Enjoy the game that is out there now and learn patience it’s not like he’s not gonna cook. Like we’ve seen what he can do as a solo dev lol

I prefer it being a solo man team. It’s fucking cool to be able to support ONE person creating my favorite game ever. Not many other games can say that.

  7. It’s also funny that when Toby Fox assembled a dev team to fulfil his vision and make the future chapters in a reasonable time frame (and because of health issues preventing him from being fully productive), people kept hounding *him* with questions like “why won’t you work on your own, it worked well in the past” or “why compromise the quality”.

Just wait for the game and trust the developers to know which method works best for them.

  8. Literally what everyone else is saying. The only bad thing this man has ever done in his entire life is make it so that you can drink, ugh, mayonnaise… otherwise he has a perfect track record just leave him be 😅

  9. I wish the gaming community (and media consumers in general) would chill with needing the “next thing” as soon as possible. I’m glad people are more understanding of that around here, at least.

  10. I’m sorry but I wish people would just leave this man **ALONE**. Let him do his work at his pace. He’s fine and happy doing that. Let it be. When it’s ready, it’s ready. The state of fandom is unbelievable at times and turns into downright harassment. Why do people feel entitled to demand a game to come out ‘*rightnowww*’ and ask ‘whyareyoutakingsooolong’?.

I love CA’s chill attitude with how often they get asked this stuff. Keep it up king.

  11. It’s weird that people can’t accept a creator doing something for personal fulfillment and enjoyment *as well as* their career. Even if you monetize an interest and make a living out of it, you don’t have to suck out all your joy by optimizing for efficiency. It’s a colorful, whimsical video game. He’s not an accountant. Let our boy have fun.

I saw a couple of months ago that he had a team helping him prior to the Switch 2 launch. I’m not sure why this is coming up again and why people feel the need to tell him what to do.

  13. People are so weird. He made a game that pretty much became the standard of its genre on his own. His love and passion for SDV shows. He can take all the time he wants on anything he does, bring a team in or not, or whatever. As long as he’s still feeling what he’s doing, I trust what we get is going to be great and further cement him as one of the premier devs of our time.

If you see this CA, thank you for sharing what the love of gaming looks like when it gets to shine.
