before anyone accuses me of being a block vomiter, i don’t care. block vomit allegations = a sign you’re doing something right. block vomit isn’t real they’re just intimidated by your creativity twin…

Its cosy and its yours 🙂
Its no blockvomit, I see the blocks are placed with intent
That’s not block vomit.
Learn what block vomit is
I think people would like your house more if you didn’t feel the need to defend it so vehemently
Could someone clear up for me, what is block vomit? Im fairly new to minecraft 😄
fyi, i’m posting this because this house was absolutely dissected and pulverized in a building discord server for being block vomit, which really annoyed me. perhaps i’m being defensive but imo, rightly so
No idea where the cutoff for block vomit is but imo the colors dont fit together in this build, something just doesnt hit my eye right
looks like a house from a little island
Whether a build is block vomit or not is simply a matter of consistency and intent. The dithered gradient to reflect shading, in general, is nice. The build is clearly made with the sun’s position somewhere particular in the scene in mind. But with the way it’s shaded, that position (and reflection of lighting conditions in general) is inconsistent. *That* is why it can come across as block vomit.
You have the shading trickling down on the southwest *and* northeast. If the sun is in a corner of the scene, only the opposite corner would be cast in shadow. Likewise, if the sun is directly above the scene, all sides would be cast in shadow rather than only two. To add, you have lanterns hanging against the sides of the building. The shadow comes across quite well in your third picture because the lighter portions are where the lantern is—it’s almost like the lantern itself is casting light on the surface of the blocks. But on the other side, the wall beside the lantern is cast in shadow, which doesn’t make sense.
The palette for the first floor is also generally softer than the second floor. I think the hay bales specifically contribute a lot of noise that makes the second floor unnecessarily harsh to look at.
Why are the walls built of hay??
